We all love the freedom of choice and accessibility that come with DRM-free games, and we also enjoy titles that are meant to be played online. One of them is an iconic multiplayer game from Bethesda – Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory which is now available for FREE on GOG with our dedicated servers!

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is an online-only game - you play by connecting to a server which you or someone else runs. You can also play alone (vs. bots) by hosting your own game, or by setting up a local area network (LAN). This game was built to enjoy with others however, and so we've set our own GOG servers to play with y'all.

It's a true 2003 vanilla experience that you just gotta try and hunt down those pesky soldiers with “GOG” tag in their usernames. We’ve heard there will be plenty of those guys there!

In order to do so, all you have to do is get the game on GOG and join one of our servers. Here’s some details about them:

EU Server IP: 51.89.94.120:27960
NA Server IP: 192.169.92.211:27960
Game Type: Campaign
Maximum Players: 16 (8v8)
Mods: None
Friendly Fire: Yes
Punkbuster: No
Anti-Lag: Yes
Max Lives: Off
Weapon Restriction: Off
Moderation: Not this time baby

Our servers are up live now and will be until November 18th, 7 AM UTC. All you need to join is the IP. See you on the battlefield!

Alongside that, we’ve also launched a special Bethesda Halloween Sale. Check out amazing titles like Dishonored 2, The Evil Within 2, Prey, Doom Series and more with discounts up to 85%! Sale lasts until November 1st, 10 PM UTC.

To read more about how we want to approach online-only games on GOG and to share how you feel about it, check out our latest GOG 2022 UPDATE.

Stupid online-only titles. It shouldn't be here. I don't understand why anyone shows any excitement about this: They could play the junk anywhere else for free any time. There's no benefit to it being on the GOG store for this. You people are utterly baffling. Like seriously. Why?

EDIT: Further discussion shows this game, contrary to what GOG states, may actually not be an online-only title, and may actually be DRM-free. Yes, it's multiplayer-only, but that's orthogonal to online-only.

StarBoundZA: Any word on when Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal might hit GOG?

Seeing a predominantly multiplayer game had me a bit concerned as their access would usually entail some kind of DRM be a cd-key or something else. I assume there is nothing of the sort and this really just is the game let loose?
Those games are heavily reliant on being always online, especially Eternal.

It will take some time before it arrives here.
Do you need to have GOG Galaxy installed to play the multiplayer? Or is the multiplayer accessible as long as you have internet connection?

As long as fighting against bots doesn't require internet connection, I guess it's fine, or at least without GOG Galaxy.

It's a free online shooter. Why the problem again?

Because it's 100% DRMed, and people who don't give any shits about the DRM state of their products could have played anywhere else for ages at the same price point, without wrecking GOG's catalog further.

There's zero benefit to anyone for this being in the GOG catalog.

GALAXY is not required for multi, only a working internet connection. IP is everything you need to join the server.

Got it, that's enough for me. Thanks for your answer! And thanks for the game, GOG! :)

Please, create another server on etpro mod. Servers without any mod is pointless.

Thanks

You know you can play it on LAN right?

This is the grand pappy of squad based multiplayer shooter that would evolve into the hero shooter genre.

I am seriously confused on how far you define DRM. Should they also remove Unreal Tournament as it's primarily a multiplayer shooter?
Pretty cool.

Never played Enemy Territory so might check it out later. Return to Castle Wolfenstein is my #1 FPS game, so it can't play badly.
So that raises a question: will older titles get this good treatment, too? Or is it tailored for this release only and that's it?

Thanks!

Baby, and then you do this, and everything is a rainbow, all 7 colours. Allright, you are Gog.com. I was emotional.

Could you elaborate? Older titles as in release date or availability on GOG? And what exactly do you mean by "this treatment"?

Howdy!

Older titles = already available on GOG + "future oldies" releasing.

Temporary GOG servers so we can blast each other out! That's amazing!!

Ah! No plans for now, but we might consider that in the future if the Community is up for it :)
