Windswept is now available on GOG!

Marbles and Checkers need your help finding their way home after being swept away in a storm. In this '90s buddy-platformer, there's a ton of stuff to do and even more to collect!

Check it out!
Look what the wind swept in.
Looks cute and fun tbh, something I could easily chill with. It reminds me a bit of of the good old Plok!

I found a comment from the dev saying the keyboard layout can be rebound so this is a plus for me b/c not all precision platformers allow this which often makes it difficult for me to play it well.

I also love reading this below part, b/c this is not something all devs honor for their kickstarter backers these days!
There was also updates along the way on the enemysmemeny platform so ppl can see its not abandoned etc, which also not something all devs bother with anymore. Its always a big plus for me when devs keep their word and dont go completely radio silent.

"Welcome to the first of many dev logs showcasing things that I have spent the last month working on as part of my commitment to our Kickstarter Backers. These updates arrive for them a month before you'll read them here because they paid for the ~perks of exclusivity~ but this is your next-best source for info about what's being worked on and how things are playing out."

I will check out this game next month!
Okay, so that's definitely Donkey Kong Country with woodland creatures then. No mistaking that swapping animation.
Where's the UI? even Super Mario Bros (1985) had an UI with basic info.

I smell a Nintendo legal attempt soon from how what I seen of this seems like a reskin

If it is anything like the game that inspired it, it only floats in when you do something involving it. Collect thing, lose life, etc.

Could be, although i watched the trailer and those stars got sucked up into the left upper corner, i'm assuming there is supposed to be some sort of counter up there? and probably also the number of lifes, but really don't get why was that part cut from the trailer.
There's no consistent UI because you don't need one.

When you pick something up, the relevant part of the UI will show your progress. If you wish to check them at any time, you can simply pause the game.

In regards to lives, there is no lives system in this game, if you get KO'd, you will simply just restart at your last checkpoint, although you'll have to pick up Marbles or Checkers from a nearby buddy bubble (getting hit once removes the character you're controlling, getting hit alone is a KO). If you wish to make the game harder (or easier), you can using the gameplay modifiers system in the options menu, which contains:

- Game Speed Modifier (-50% speed to +50% speed)
- Ability to create your own checkpoints
- Ability to create your own buddy bubbles
- Option to skip stages
- Infinite Jumps
- Invincibility
- Get KO'd if you get hit at all (therefore there is no single character grace like normal)
- Disable all checkpoints
- Disable all buddy bubbles
- Disable retrying bonus areas
- Get KO'd if you pick up any coins
- Get KO'd if you KO any enemy

You also have the ability to show a persistent game/stage timer if you're trying to go fast.

It's a very solid game and I definitely recommend picking it up. The gameplay is tight and fluid, the level design is great and there's so many collectibles in each stage to get that finding them all is great fun.
There's a demo on Steam. And yeah, normally there's no UI; relevant things pop up on the screen as needed, and disappear after a second or two; if you press the pause button, you can see the stuff you've collected. This was very common in 90s games like this, which the game is explicitly recreating (mostly DKC). The demo doesn't say what the various collectables actually do (infinite lives and accessibility options seem to be the only concession to modern gaming), but very nicely done anyway.
