HunchBluntley: I think in this context, "original game" is supposed to mean "base game". While it's not infallible, GOG Database doesn't show either version including a copy of the other. More damningly, the product type GOG has set behind the scenes for this remaster (and for the original) is "game" -- not "package", as it should be if it were going to include multiple base library entries and/or DLC.
TL;DR: We'll have to wait for confirmation from someone who's purchased it, and who didn't already own the old version, but it looks like the answer to the original question is "No, the store page description is just confusingly-worded" (as was my suspicion when this first showed up as "coming soon").

On the bright side, at least the original is still available (and on sale!).
I see your point; I may have been wrong, but hope someone confirms soon.
Either way, I'm on the fence on whether or not to refund the original since I can't tell from YouTube comparison videos that anything has been made worse, but text clarity has certainly been made better, and tthe crossplay tag and DLCs give me confidence that multiplayer is included in the GOG version this time around (although they still haven't included a multiplayer tag it seems).

I think you mean 1/3rd of Gladius is free. Good lord, that DLC list...

As for Space Marine, I already have Space Marine, so this is.... $40 to add multiplayer?
Am I understanding correctly that all of the DLC are multiplayer skins?

Pass.
Maybe for $10 I'd add multiplayer but... pass.
Nice. Though I'm mainly just happy to see a SEGA release happen. Hopefully more happen in the not-too-distance future.

According to Gamestar, a German game magazine, this remaster is at best 10€ worth:

Das Remaster von Warhammer 40k:Space Marine ist ein mieser Witz! - Master Crafted Edition im Test

Also sitting at mostly negative on Steam. The message seems to be clear - start pricing these "remasters", which are mostly just glorified QoL updates at best, accordingly.
not my thing but nice to see a game come to Gog
Not the "Kill Leandros" DLC many await, still, but when it hits the right discount, then I'll get it like the first one (now called Anniversary Edition) that I always loved on Steam.. though I could never bother to finish MP achievements.

At least, it's still better than Mark Strong-less Space Marine 2.. I doubt I'll ever open up to the latter.
Not without Cpt. Titus the way he was meant to be.

Frick Saber, or Focus Ent, or whoever thought letting go of Mark Strong and not letting him reprise his role as Titus was a good idea. Releasing a Toolkit now for Space Marine 2 won't save it, either.

God damn.

I have never seen a remaster do so little but demand so much more performance. I was running this on a 4070, and it dipped below 60 FPS at 1080. What the heck?
Well, I'm glad it's here, since we didn't have the option for multiplayer with the other release. Maybe it has little or no value at Steam, but I can't complain about this version being here.

Steam reviews don't look great. Not sure why it needs to be an extra 30GB for something that isn't a proper remaster.
Just recently re-completed this game. Mixed bag for me. The 40K atmosphere is absolutely fantastic and you can see that they refined a lot of the issues present here in the SM2.

I don't think this game aged particularly well. You can die during execution animations; no involnerability frames for you! The whole health regen aspect is janky at best. If a game ever benefitted from the screen-reddening mechanics of modern shooters, SM would be one of them. Alas, they went the old-school route (even for their new game).

Roll-dodge mechanics are here too, but holy crap it is barely functional. Enemies magnetize to you and will hit you while you're rolling. Balance is all over the place, but one thing I'm glad for is that ranged weapons i.e. bolters, plasma, melta are all viable and even great. They reduced those to nothing in SM2 and made melee almost exclusive.

Multiplayer in this game is absolutely atrocious. Bygone era of competitive scene without a co-op campaign experience. It gets boring fast.

All in all, it was good to experience this gem-in-the-rough again with some modern tweaks. Story is passable and sets the stage for SM2 well enough. After one playthrough though, I'm not compelled to ever pick it up again however.

Looks like the game was a pretty big mess. Steam is getting extended refunds and owners of the original will get 50% off. I wonder if we'll get the discount here too if we have the original. The extended refund window is already covered by Gog's normal refund policy, so it's good on that front.
