Given Gog total lack of any semblance of transparency when i comes to this kind of decisions I guess we will never officially know. But if true I still do find it pretty stupid, they they never sells any porn games that's one thing, but starting selling them, even pretending having less censorship than Steam, only to walk back on it silently a couple of year later is pretty lame, not Devotion-level lame but pretty close.

Talking about Tokyo Clanpool, I haven't followed recently but was the uncensor patch ever released ?

IndustryRefugee: So apparently the ban on adult and H-games at GOG is now semi-official. They've evidently just straight up told Kagura Games they don't want anything else from them after their current contracts are fulfilled. I'm sure you're aware of what's going on over at Valve and Steam now. In addition to card and payment networks going completely off the handle, someone may have snitched to the Polish government as well. So GOG apparently laid off their entire adult game team. Suddenly it's a lot more believable that they censored this Vita game. I don't know why we've stooped to policing content in ESRB/PEGI-rated games, but I guess few could account for getting screwed over by their plastic card "brand".
Basically we have to sit it out and wait for the current moral busybodies in charge at these payment processors to be replaced and things going back to normal then.
Good times.

That's just sad. I'm not against adult games nor them being sold here. It's just that I don't care about visual novels or games in the style of RPGMaker. In fact there are at least two adult games here, that are gameplay-wise interesting to me, they are just region-locked for Germany.

btw.: Another game series with adult content that I would like to play are the original God of War's.
Someone at GOG remains willing to promote eroge. The latest e-mail newsletter is 'Adults Only: Huge Discounts on Top Erotic Visual Novels!'

Do you have anything more than "apparently"? All you are assuming about GOG and what goes on behind the doors sounds to me a lot of guesswork with no actual proof.

Interesting when I think about the short exchange I had on the GOG discord when I was told it is a "They said we said" situation .... apparently it really is not and GOG once again is unable or unwilling to tell us the truth. However this still does not mean that GOG is starting to remove these games or the upcoming doom of NSFW games on GOG.

We're inferring a ban on adult games from that exchange? I think it has more to do with the absolute slop that Kagura churns out on a weekly basis as opposed to a shift away from supporting adult content. Doubly so when GOG has yet to remove anything for that reason.

Seems like a lot of nothing, honestly.
I only got "Ideology in Friction" from Kagura Games, not even sure how i got it, i guess i had some coins left at some point and found the art interesting. However... the technical aspect was so terrible, bad picture quality on a 1080P screen (totally washed out), no gamepad support, not even a mouse is supported. It is just rubbish so i had to remove this game from my collection. In theory this game should be one of the "better" games but yeah... i was not able to enjoy it. I guess most games they offer are about this level or even less... not really a quality game, sadly.

However... there are always exceptions: I heard "Pray Game" and "Demons Roots" could be something suitable and probably the best games they got to offer. Unfortunately as well not free... especially Pray Game is 20 hard Swiss coins for me, so i do expect a enjoyable experience.

Perhaps i will get those games, but thats it for me when it comes to Kagura Games. You never know what time it may even become wiped from the store and those 2 games could become a loss.

In general i do not want GOG to ban them, it makes me sad... despite the in overall questionable quality. Instead GOG should become very picky and only allow the best games to be released here. I dunno why GOG was not doing any curation here... so instead of banning simply make curation.

Perhaps GOG simply lacks the manpower to make it happen and at the same time they are struggling with crying people, law enforcement and criminalization from payment providers, so they kinda feel like "pulling the plug". It does not seem to be worth it to them anymore, taking all the factors into account.

Regarding the topic, Tokyo Clanpool
is a fine game in its category such as Moero Chronicle and Mary Skelter 1+2, so there is no need going to become cranky about and making "hidden censorship". If the publisher is finally able to make the uncensor patch happen at some point i may get me this game but not any sooner, excuse me.

GOG's curation was super heavy handed at some point, which resulted in a lot of good games getting rejected for no good reason. That was really frustrating. I can see not wanting to promote games below a certain level of quality or broad appeal, but if a game isn't just obvious garbage, I don't think anyone benefits from just not allowing it to be sold at all. Especially since in a lot of cases, a GOG release is the only way something's going to get a DRM-free release of any sort.

Anyway, yeah - veering off-topic. I'm in the same boat where, if the publisher uncensors the game, I'll probably pick it up, but I'm not buying it unless that happens.
My view is GOG is doing to less curation on many cases. Sometimes they may have denied a good game but overall the inferior stuff visiting GOG was bigger than the good stuff which has been denied for whatever reason.

In fact from my 660+ games i got 480+ good games and 180+ "hidden = bad" games which are bad for me due to different reasons. At least 1/3 of them are technically totally broken (and almost beyond fixable condition), yet still passed the curation, another 1/3 is simply not my taste, and the last 1/3 is either outdated or it was just some sort of demo. Ultimately, due to different reasons, every 3. game will not make it into my collection but i do not use reimbursement on GOG.

Nonetheless... Steam is the much bigger "garbage-container" in every case. The only reason for them to exist and to dominate GOG is simply because they got a few hundreds of "super franchises" GOG is struggling to put their hands on, creating a very big cash flow. As well because of the E-sports games with micro transactions which is very rewarding for those creating it... just not easy to be implemented if being Online is not enforced and if the mass is not with you, as it is "Online and mass-driven".

Of course it can be very difficult judging a game because even many of the pretty trashy Kagura-Games still got a bunch of peoples adoring it... including the technically by modern standards totally inferior "Ideology in Friction". Nonetheless... if the peoples adoring it are way to less it might still not be worth it to GOG, in regard of all the difficulties that will come with it.

I hope nobody hates me from what I'm going to say, but...
Almost everything published by kagura games (called "krapura" by some friends) is shovelware quality.
There's like just one or two exceptions to that rule (imouto life fantasy, and I'm not sure if summer & winter memories will be as well, as those have NTR and... stop counting)

The problem about Tokyo Clanpool is that the publisher promised an uncensored release, and that end up as a blatant lie.
For a game that it is not more risquè than Moero Chronicle or Mary Skelter, it doesn't make any sense.

Yes they said it would be uncensored as they was not expecting much issues releasing it. Because there are way more hardcore stuff released already on both platforms. The outcome unfortunately was different: Both version, censored and uncensored has been turned down and banned on Steam. On GOG it is not very clear what happened exactly but it is safe to say even on GOG the uncensored version has been banned while the censored version was barely acceptable to them.

Thats the story... not much more is known. GOG is even hiding the fact that the game is censored on their web page so they somewhat feel guilty. Yet i can not be helped it seems, because GOG may have gotten some brutal words from a higher up unknown to us.

I guess the publisher was even to shy releasing any uncensor patch, neither directly on GOG, probably forbidden, nor any other place as they fear consequences.

However... i guess the pressure by a lot of fans is slowly rising to levels that huge that they may eventually "bend" due to its force. Most likely the game may sell up to 5 times more providing such a patch. So they may at some point take the risk by providing this uncensor patch, perhaps at some hidden place... i dunno.
