Big in Japan.

Throne of Darkness, a fast-paced ARPG where you slaughter hordes of exotic demons with your well-trained samurai, is now available DRM-free, exclusively on GOG.com.

Combine powerful warlords with demonic influence and trouble will soon follow. When the most prominent shogun surrenders to darkness, only a handful of heroic samurai is left standing against the evil that now threatens to engulf the land of Yamato. Seven distinct classes, tons of neat loot, and massive demonic armies that can't wait to meet your mouse pointer make this a real treasure for lovers of Diablo-style gameplay.
And here we have the grandfather of NIOH. :)

Didn't play this back in the day, so I'm not sure I could get into it now, without the nostalgia bonus. Still, seems like a good addition to GOG's classics.
Sure. Throne of Darkness was pretty cool. I'll buy it.
Thanks you GOG for finally bringing it here. I've been waiting for this... now, I wait for my money. xD
Still - good job. :D
Thursdays new game...

name sounds familiar so i checked youtube, i played diablo and hellfire and d2 and expansions, but this game is a little bit 'chaotic', the characters are walking nervously and 'race' there way accros the maps....

diablo and diablo 2 + expansion are far superior to this clone, i have seen some diablo clones and theose were better then this game,.

some suggestions for old games:

Tony Tough and the Night of the Roasted Moths
Lost Chronicles of Zerzura
and the secret files + losthorzion 1+2
nightlong is also a nice old game (team 7)

Until next week : Thursdays new game.

Sierra were a bit obcessed with getting on the Diablo bandwagon during the 90's weren't they, they also made that unofficial expansion didn't they?

Does this game support window mode?
I'm not familiar with this game, but seeing it "brandish" the Sierra logo I'm all over it. :D

op2017si: Does this game support window mode?
Please Note: Throne of Darkness only supports multiplayer connectivity over LAN or direct connection. Throne of Darkness also does not have a windowed mode and supports fullscreen only.
Still have the boxed version of this game with 2 CD's. Can't say I've played it much, I was young and changed games very often. It's a nice game though and it's a steal for the price :-)
this is so awesome, need to buy soon! only played demo back in the day... and haven't heard of it since!

Matewis: Very cool. I bought Diablo II with some saved up money while away on vacation. I.e. without my pc, which made it torture waiting to get back home. It was all the lore included in the manual which I read over and over that kept me from going insane :P

Darucas: I know the feeling ^^ Diablo 1/2 manuals really read as chronicles too, espcially D1, they do a great job at setting up the atmosphere and universe.
I've just checked out my old copy, there's something like 20 pages of lore out of 73. Not as much as I remembered, but the bios are a surprising addition. There's also a list of items (weapons) and opponents that may count as both gampelay hints and lore (speaking of lore and gameplay, there's always three characters in each clan that have predifined personal quests, which add a bit to their personnality and variety).
Predefined personal quests even. This game is starting to sound pretty interesting I must say.
Awesome game, glad it is here! You had to repair your stuff way too often, other than that, brilliant game in a nice setting. Learned many japanese words during my playthrough xD
Nice new "good old game" !

vicklemos: Say Kabuki Warriors. I dare ya ;P

Grargar: Kabuki Warriors. I dare ya ;P
I'm leaving since the level of badassery here it too damn high ;P

Klumpen0815: Come on!
The game is from 2001, you could at least give WinXP support to that one.
avatar
Vissavald: And it looks really ridiculous when it's written in SysReq section on game page: Windows 7 minimum, and DirectX 7 videocard :D

But no, no way, brave GOG staff can't give a guarantee that this game from 2001 would run on your system in 2017, of course... Don't blame'em, they are just humble slaves of someone big's ill will.
You really don't know much about Computer programming, do you?

Because some of the tweaks that GOG had to make to a llow the game to run on a modern system might create problems with running it on XP.
XP is a dead OS. Fewer and fewer people are using it. You can't expect GOG to support it.

Just checked, and this is the guy who accused the computer industry of being in a massive conspiracy against XP
a few weeks ago.

No more obsessed then the other gaming companies. Most of them brought out Daiblo clones/wannabes in the late 90's. Whan a game is as big a hit as Diablo 1 and 2 were, you can bet there will be lots of imitators.
