Matewis: Yep, sounds exactly like what I used to do :) I'm definitely going to try that when I next give the game a go
The proper name of the mod that I couldn't remember at the time is GCD (Galsiah's Character Development) for Morrowind and nGCD for Oblivion (mentioned here).

anothername: Unmodded MW blows OB out of the water. Modded its reversed.

If you have both search the Net for the merger mod. Obliviwind or something like that.

Pond86: So its worth playing Morrowind for the first time without any mods?
I heard at least using morrowind code patch with latest rumors fix and delayedbdattacks is preffered to play with it,so i installed those.
How good are the GOG versions of Battlespire and Redguard? People seem to consider Redguard as buggy. I've never played either, only Oblivion and Skyrim
What an awesome set of releases. Instabuying these. Now let's see the Mass Effect trilogy next.

IMO yes. I never really missed anything when playing MW out of the box. Cant say that for OB. Mainly its gameplay decissions like the level scaling which is immersion killing in unmodded OB.

But if you plan to go all in into OB modding (like combining several supermods etc) be prepared to spend a weekend trial & erroring. But the result is extremly rewarding. Never really got the urge to return to MW. And when I did, I took the boat to there ;)

I don't know how much if at all the guys creating the MW/OB merger have progressed. From when I last played a few years ago I'd say play stand alone MW first if you have not played it yet and want to see all it offers.
Just brought it. Though i'm torn now how to how to start it.

Thanks to gOg and Bethesda for these releases. Much appreciated, and it sure sounds like you've both brought some happiness to the customers. Seemed like these were inevitable additions, and yet we never really KNEW for certain. And now here they are.

Gonna mull this over for a bit - I get snippets of game time these days, not the hours upon hours that these titles demand.

DukeNukemForever: As far as I remember the soundtracks are not included anymore and are available separate. At release the installers were the same and I hope gog keeps the "original" installers also up to date.
avatar
GR00T: Thanks. Yeah, I thought it was something to do with the extras/goodies and not the actual game itself.
The "Classics" versions mentioned that have been removed since Bethesda took over the licenses from Interplay contain more goodies than the currently available titles. The Bethesda releases currently available stripped away quite a lot of content. :(

Just looking at Fallout 1, the currently available version only includes a manual as an extra where the Classic version contains avatars, artwork, the soundtrack, and lots of other bonuses.

Cool, I'm glad to hear that there is one for Morrowind too, where I had the same problem.

Pond86: Many thanks to you both, I shall pick it up later for that price. I look forward to playing it for the first time.
I'll put in a word on Morrowind as well - I am someone who adores Morrowind, but I am realistic enough to admit that it does have flaws. It hasn't aged spectacularly well, the combat is uninspiring (especially earlier on before you can actually reliably hit anything) and I guarantee that you will come to actively loathe the name 'cliff racer' if you play for any length of time. However, all those points aside, Vaardenfell as a place is so wonderfully immersive, it's worth putting up with the rough edges.

I hope you like reading though - there's a lot of text. Oh, and YAY! OBLIVION!1!!1
Is the Oblivion forum up yet? I don't see it listed on GOG.
Is this the same version as the physical GOTY that also works with WinXP so I can finally put my physical one to rest?

As usually, games in the series don't have a separate forum, so don't look for Oblivion, but Elder scrolls.
