System Shock: Enhanced Edition now comes with official support for resolutions up to 1024x768 (compared to the original 640x480), and a native 854x480 widescreen mode. Gameplay is streamlined with a toggleable mouselook mode, including more intuitive inventory and item management. Combined with assorted bug-fixes and remappable controls, System Shock is now truly enhanced. Still, some gaming experiences are truly worth preserving, so you can also return to the authentic 90's gameplay with System Shock: Classic - ready for modern systems, completely unaltered in all other aspects, and available in both the CD and Floppy editions!

Awesome!!!
Neat Release but unfortunately this "enhanced edition" doesn't run on Windows XP. :(

According to the game card the classic version is also included. So is the classic version included as an extra download and does it run on Windows XP?

If not i can at least still play System Shock Portable.

It's a separate game that gets added to your account :)

And yes, the Classic version runs on DOSBox so it will run on Windows XP :)

Neat lede.
No WinXP support for the new version? You serious? oO

A Linux package shouldn't be a big problem either. :/

:O!
This is one GOG's best and craziest additions ever. I played this years and years ago, back when it was totally abandoned and most computers couldn't run it well in DOSBox.

My heart sank a little when I read that Night Dive had updated the game, but the news about System Shock: Classic got me hyped again. To anyone thinking about buying it: play the classic version. Is it clunky? Yes. Is it off-putting at first? Yes. But it becomes second-nature if you play long enough, and it's the way the game was meant to be played. Turning on the mouselook mod screws with the pacing Looking Glass was going for. It ruins the game for me.

In any case, everyone should play this masterpiece. Of the two System Shock games, I still prefer this one!

Very nice! That makes it an awesome release!

I have to scrape together a few bucks to grab it right away... :D
AAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!
Awesome release! Still remember when you guys had the countdown on the front page a while back and thinking "What, did they get System Shock 2 on here. Yeah, right." And sure enough, YOU GUYS DID! SS1, SS2, Doom, Quake... You guys are clinically insane and I love it. Also digging the bonus discount for SS2 owners.
Thank you GOG!
Wait, is this the same series as that other game in here, System Shock 2?

Yep. This is System Shock 1.
Woohoo! That's a shut up and take my money game right there! Thanks for bringing it here!
I wonder why I never played this game. I might pick it up though I'm not sure if I'd enjoy it. Somehow I don't like old-school shooters anymore.
