System Shock: Enhanced Edition now comes with official support for resolutions up to 1024x768 (compared to the original 640x480), and a native 854x480 widescreen mode. Gameplay is streamlined with a toggleable mouselook mode, including more intuitive inventory and item management. Combined with assorted bug-fixes and remappable controls, System Shock is now truly enhanced. Still, some gaming experiences are truly worth preserving, so you can also return to the authentic 90's gameplay with System Shock: Classic - ready for modern systems, completely unaltered in all other aspects, and available in both the CD and Floppy editions!

synfresh: I may get downvoted for this, but GoG advertises (as they do every game) this by putting DRM-Free in the OP (premiering DRM-free on GOG.com) but did the original game actually have any DRM?
avatar
Vythonaut: Even though the original game may not had any DRM (not really sure about that), in a time where the biggest online stores sell games that work only if you install their mandatory client (read Steam, Uplay, Origin etc.) which in fact is DRM even though many folks don't see it that way, GOG has to mention wherever they can that their products (well, not really theirs but you know what I mean) come with no clients, no DRM, no nothing - just pure .exe installers.

edit. sorry for the triple post, damn smartphones....
Except this game isn't sold anywhere else where there is a client. Even if it was I'm sure you could play it without the client.

So happy to see this show up will try to buy it soon. :)
Bought. Can't wait to play it tomorrow. :D
It's a bit far fetched for me to call "enhanced" a version for Windows, but the classic version alone is well worth the price...
cool

Isn't sold yet, I guess.. ;-) As for whether the client would be mandatory to run the game or not, I don't know.

apehater: sorry, but law fetishism is not my thing. i'm here for games and for me sustainability, consistence, reason and fairness are more important than law at this situation.

HiPhish: You should consider a career in politics, because you just wrote an entire sentence without actually saying anything. What does "sustainability, consistence, reason and fairness" actually mean?
"I'm not here for your logic, I'm here for my FEELS"
Cool! Just a few months ago, I played the abandonware "Portable" version, so honour compels me to buy it now to make a legal man of me ;-) . It's old and clunky, for sure, but it can also feel surprisingly modern - audiologs, bouncing physics for grenades, dynamic lighting, and a superb fully-voiced villain.

Edit: And it has the soundtrack too [in the enhanced version's goodies]!

Wow, within a 1 month period GOG fulfilled both the #1 and #2 most requested games on the wishlist (Morrowind and System Shock 1)

EDIT: But the new #1 most requested (not yet fulfilled) is Diablo, and I don't have much hope for that one.

I wanted to buy it, because i own and really like SS2, but i saw one of the reviews about Windows 10 bad compatibility. Does it work on win 10? Sorry if that question was asked before, im too lazy to read through all that pages. Thanks in advance.

Very cool, gog.com, purchased and installing now...
Well once i get the first game, i might actually play it and the second one in order... Although i wonder if the graphics will be bad enough i won't enjoy it... I can't help but recall trying to play Vampire: The Masquerade, and i got a look at the guy's hands that were soooo low polygon making a permanent fist... PS1 level of awful.
My face just fell off.

Only GOG could make this kind of impossible dream a reality. Thank you once again!!!

don't know about the enhanced version but the classic version which is included should work fine since that is just the CD and floppy versions running under dosbox. The enhanced version is a tweaked version(adding mouse aim and such) running under a windows loader.
You must be fucking kidding me, taffers! :OOOO

Buying immediately.

Thank you, good people of Night Dive Studios an GOG.

Now I can die happily :)
