Do it for Jar Jar!

STAR WARS™ Starfighter™, an arcade dogfighting game set right prior to the battle of Naboo, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com 20% off!

STAR WARS™ Starfighter™ took the gameplay you know and love from the Rogue Squadron series, and brought them into the realm of Star Wars Episode 1. It's the conflict leading up the the Battle of Naboo. You will play as Rookie Naboo pilot Rhys Dallows, mercenary Vana Sage, and alien pirate Nym, each with their unique starfighter specialised for orbital dogfights, space station assaults, and low-flying bombing runs. You will engage in over 14 varied missions across enormous open plains, far reaches of space, and tight corridors of the enemy's control ships. Strike back against the separatist aggressors and ultimately save the peaceful planet of Naboo.

Fast and furious arcade dogfighting in STAR WARS™ Starfighter™ is available now DRM-free on GOG.com! The 20% launch discount will last for 72 hours, until Friday, January 30 at 1:59 PM GMT.
Thanks GOG. Is Starfighter similar to Rogue Squadron?
Not a bad game and a ton of fun!! Thanks GOG.com!

I'm kinda disappointed with the 3 releases of today; all of them have been on Steam for a long long time; wasted chance by GOG.com to add some unreleassed classics such as Rebel Assault (I and II) , Outlaws, or even Shadows of the Empire 3 games that are still unaccounted for on digital release.

Instead, todays batch is just 3 games that were allready on Steam, and not worth the price for them, except Jedi Knight perhaps, as Starfighter is the poor mans verssion of Rogue Squadron and Republic Commando was a shoter which it's best feature was teammates A.I, not groundbreaking in terms of dessign, graphics or lenght.

As said, wasted chance by GOG to be even more ahead tan Steam in terms of Lucasarts games.

I'm sorry to be this critic, but after having enjoyed the last week 5 games that never saw the light on digital release and not having for this final batch any more of those it's really disappointing.

I don't see this as a wasted chance. After all, there are people in here that don't use / don't want to use Steam platform (me included) for various reasons so for them it is a happy release day! ;-)

This.

For those of us who don't use Steam it's a great release day. Thank you, GOG!

Does Starfighter work with an Xbox 360 controller? Does it have a windowed mode?

ReaverT: ...
Well they had to appear here at some point. :-P I guess I can understand if you just wanted another title or two not already on Steam in today's releases, but if you're suggesting GOG should only bring games not already on Steam, both I and Tim heartily disagree with you. (Especially, in my book, considering how many thousands of votes the games have; we knocked off probably another 8000 votes today.)

It's a spread-out approach. They've only got so many chances to play the "never before relased digitally" hype card.

The idea's to get people really, really excited so they buy day one rather than wait for sales with lower prices, right?

But if GOG plays the same cards heavily at the same time, more and more people will say, "Oh, I'll put it on my wishlist because I can't afford to get everything right this second."
If you say "We've got six games, all of them never before released digitally!", a lot of people are going to feel as thought they have to pick and choose, buying some at best but sending what they can't get right away to their wishlist.

And if you lose the attention of the customer, if they get distracted, the odds will go through the roof that what you want them to buy immediately will get lost in the shuffle of everything else they might want to get.
Since pretty much everyone tends to wait for sales to do serious wishlist clearing, you work against what you want to have happen.

And that's just the possible marketing end of it. We have no idea how much crap the people at GOG Central might be going through to make everything work on a level that they won't have people screaming their heads off about how GOG's putting out products that don't work for whatever.

The competition might have some of the same games, but it's pretty apparent that the competition doesn't give half a rotting rat's ass about making sure what they rent to people actually works.

No to the first question. No to the second question as well.

ReaverT: Snip
Looking at the posts in Jedi Knight it seems that the gog versions fix the sound and movies bugs found in the steam versions so it looks like gog is aiming to not screw us over with unplayable ports for the sake of releasing them, which I for one like.

So...? Some of us care about DRM-free releases.
