Make the Star Wars™ galaxy your own.

Star Wars™ Empire at War: Gold Pack, the most ambitious Star Wars™ strategy game ever, is available now on GOG.com, with a 20% launch discount!

Star Wars™ Empire at War: Gold Pack is in many ways an iteration of Star Wars™ Rebellion. Two asymmetrical forces, the Galactic Empire and Rebel Alliance, clash for total domination over the galaxy. Each faction plays to its individual strengths and weaknesses: the Rebels will rely on their spies and sabotage, causing turmoil and uprisings while the Empire tightens its steel grip with towering machines of war. Star Wars™ Empire at War: Gold Pack is a combination of three intertwined gameplay elements: Galactic Conquest - a game of grand strategy over entire systems, space battles - massive orbital conflicts for map and resource control, and classic land battles - deeply tactical RTS skirmishes. The Forces of Corruption™ expansion included here adds a whole new pirate faction to the game, as well as brand new units, heroes, and more iconic planets.

Shape the fate of your galaxy in Star Wars™ Empire at War: Gold Pack, available for Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com! The 20% launch discount will last for 72 hours, until Sunday, January 25, at 2:00 PM GMT.

omega64: Give us those kids titles Disney!
I'll be fine with Tron 2.0.
nice game, looks familiar, now i remember, these games started to use some more 3d graphics
c&c and red alert also started to use 3d, thats when i stopped buying them, with bitmapped graphcis or handdrawn you can create something unique, in 3d its all the same apart from the skin, which is the only thing that makes it look like a c&c vehicle or a starwars vehicle, personally i feel that 3d games have no charme or charisma, it looks so 'cold' and 'metallic', i stick to 2d anytime.

Even the latest or remakes of old adventures in 3d (also 3d cartoon) usually wont have that old feeling that the originals had, but thats only my opinion, 3d should be used for MMORG and FPP multiplayer games
where you can coop or do head to head games, they excell in this and are very well suited.

Singleplayer should be default 2d graphics esepcially point and click, i bought the 3d look game
the longest journey on sale cause i was curious why people like these 3d kind of games, also bought gray matter, but after playing 20 minutes i stick to the old school adventures.

Monkey island 3d is a nono to me, same goes for all classics, including jagged alliance games and fallout games.

tfishell: Wow, how'd you manage to get a 5 dollar price difference from Steam? :) I can only hope you are able to talk Disney into making that 20+ games into 30 or 40+ titles, in the near future.

Lego games are great, just look at the stuff they released on Steam, you'll understand what I mean. ;P

haydenaurion: So, is this one worth a purchase?

ShadowOwl: It's a good game, but lacking depth compared to pretty much any other RTS. Space combat is much more fun than the land battles. There's also several Galactic Conquest campaigns, where you try to conquer the galaxy as the Rebels, the Empire or the Consortium (which doesn't really fit into the SW Expanded Universe).

I played the multiplayer a lot back in the days but I got bored pretty fast. Sadly, there haven't been enough patches to fix the terrible balancing (the Consortium is totally overpowered) and the technical side, especially the netcode is lacking a lot aswell. You can really feel that many former Command & Conquer devs have been working on this game. At least there are TONS of great mod out there: http://www.moddb.com/games/star-wars-empire-at-war-forces-of-corruption/mods

Only buy this if you are interested in the mods, can't really recommend the game at this price, even with the 20% discount.
The lack of depth is fine for me as I kinda suck at RTS games, might be easier for me, lol.

Give it a go then. :)

lol i suck in all kind of games generally , but i gave all categories a try,
i am the worst in adventures, crosswords, and other games that require heavvy use of the mind,
requires too much thinking i guess :D

games like jagged alliance , fallout red alert c&c fit me better, only in singleplayer/campaign mode or skirmish vs the pc that is :D
Always wanted to try this one. :)

Wishlisted for later consumption. ^_^
Another game i can now take off steam yippee. Enjoyed the game a lot love the space battles(ground battles not so much) would have loved a large map of hoth to play but it seems tiny and dosent feel like the battle from the films.T
You should include the map editor as an extra :)

I'd love Tarzan or Toy Story 2 Action Game. :)

Grargar: I'll be fine with Tron 2.0.
Yes! We definitely want Tron 2.0!
It pains me to write these words, but it's an extremely shallow and repetitive game, bound to bore even the most hardcore RTS enthusiasts VERY quickly - which is a shame, because Empire at War had the potential to be a grand, highly replayable Total War-esque experience.
Unfortunately, every single aspect of this thing (be it the strategic layer or the combat mechanics) lacks the sufficient amount of depth to remain engaging for more than an hour or two.
One might find it fun to play, but only in short doses.
I had NEVER heard of this game - how does that happen? I'm not usually an RTS fan but something about this one looks amazing. Can anyone speak to the ground battles? Also, it looks like (and I thought I saw it mentioned in the thread) there are 4X aspects. I don't need anything too deep (seriously, those images of AT-ATs and the fact that it's Star Wars can cure a lot of ills for me ;) ) but is it at least interesting? Tech tree? Scouting new systems, "missions" involving spies or specialized units etc?

Curious as it has my attention.

Better get Rebellion, EaW is just terribly designed. It *should* work like first Dawn of War, but it doesnt. Small maps, small army limits for attacker and countless spam of defender units w/o restrictions. No diplomacy, no missions, smaller galaxy.. it's just Rebellion, but worse in almost every aspect.
AAAAAAAAIIIIEEEEEE

Instabought!

Yes... Definitely one happy ewok today! :-D

Thank you thank you thank you GOG and Disney!

Have only the original EAW on disk, have yet to play it; this purchase may just have boosted it much towards the front of the queue!

Edit: For those who might be interested, here is a video review Gamespot did of the original at release time:
