You can't kill the metal, the metal will slay on!

Slain: Back From Hell, the glorious re-launch of the heavy-metal action/platformer, now galvanized with facemelting improvements, is available DRM-free on GOG.com for Windows, Mac, and Linux, with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and a 33% launch discount.
Those who already owned the original version before the update came out, will get Back From Hell for free plus an additional copy which they can gift to a headbanger friend! Just go to Slain: Back From Hell in your library and click on the box for a message that contains your gift code.

Metalheads, sharpen your oversized swords and prepare your sensitive ears. This is the epic, gory, and totally heavy-metal story of Bathoryn, the long-haired hero that decided to storm six creepy-looking towers, home to six terrible overlords. Will you help him wipe the toothy grins off their ugly mugs or will you let him get Slain?

Bathoryn's adventure was off to a rocky start, but Hell cannot contain his passion for action/platforming carnage. This re-launch brings huge changes across the board, including:

- Recalibrated combat and difficulty curve
- Three new boss fights and changed monster attack patterns
- Overhaul of certain visual elements, improved controls, and functionality
- New dialogue, story elements, and sequences
- Tons of other tweaks and fixes

It's finally time for that overpowering encore you've been waiting for! Steel your heart and hand with heavy-metal and stage-dive into Slain: Back From Hell, DRM-free on GOG.com. Or raise the volume to godlike levels with the Deluxe Edition upgrade, which includes the 20-track OST by Curt Victor Bryant, a digital postcard, a wicked wallpaper, and other surprises!
The 33% discount will last until August 22, 12:59 PM UTC.

Learned that despite the corrections it may not be for me but in any case khudos to the devs for the handling of their post release.

Khudos guys! A lot of devs/publisher should take you as example.
Wow.. this looks extremely promising now. I just love that heavy metal vibe. It is definitely on my wishlist.
Hmm ... damn, now, that looks even greater than before! What to do, what to do? :)

IFW: This release actually looks good so far.
The original game card should have been deleted so the reviews would reflect on this release...
Much as I agree with you personally, that's a sure fire way for GOG to have shrieking users claiming "censorship", "it's unfair to my carefully crafted masterpiece review" or some other BS. We wouldn't want the gates of hell opening like that and neither do they.

Perhaps something along the lines of the iTunes store would work better, i.e. where reviews can be filtered by those for the latest version only or for all versions.

I think something should be done to honour the fact that the developers have clearly reworked the product significantly. Granted the old reviews should in theory drift ot the bottom as good ones take over (hey hint for all in this thread - go write a good review ;)); but I do feel that when games have massive changes they deserve a fresh set of reviews.

The product is inherently changed and whilst old reviews should be archived they shouldn't be advertised (reviews on product pages ARE a form of advertising) and the reviews of the product as it stands should be the ones shown clearly and up front.

Also just a question for GOG - The Delux upgrade appears to not have any discount during this promotional event; however the upgrade does over on Steam currently. I assume the sales on both sites are tied to the same general promotional event thus it might be an error on the GOG site that the upgrade isn't currently discounted?

There also this Special Promo "Digerati Distribution up to -90%" which increases the discount on Slain: Back from Hell to -50% (when you have all of the games in there)
The Deluxe edition upgrade isn't in there though :/

Painted_Doll: Is it playable with kb + mouse ?
looks like so.
In option you will have to select second layout.
Keys are non bindable.
Obviously a combination of Castlevania with ghosts and ghouls. With some Splatterhouse styled gore. I like the idea a whole lot. If anyone has an extra key, i would really like to have it. in return, I promise to not to just finish it, but get as many achievements i can AND review it afterwards.
edit: nvm, you can change keys in the launcher :p
So far, so good ^^

IAmSinistar: Hot dang, FINALLY! And yes, I know the delay was on the dev side, not the GOG side. This is supposed to be mightily improved from the original, so I'm looking forward to finally playing it.
How is Slain with the update so far? It wasn't well received on release.

It's pretty fun so far. I was interested before but the backlash was pretty bad. Now it's actually living up to its potential. Watch Totalbicuit's review if you want more specifics.
