Shooting like a hurricane.

UPDATE: Yeee-haw, all weapon systems are back online! The game now supports Leaderboards and GOG Galaxy Achievements, to help you show off those mad screen-clearing skills.

Raiden V: Director's Cut, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The latest entry in the celebrated series that's been sending us straight to bullet hell for over two decades is here, more explosive than ever. Featuring voice acting for the first time, plus both a Story and a Boss Mission Mode, it will have you wreaking havoc with one of three distinct ships, each sporting different statistics, and sub-weapons.

nightcraw1er.488: Is it too early to point out gog jumping on the bandwagon of ripping muppets off £20 or more for effectively something you could get better on mame?
Is the price different on Steam? The publisher sets the price for new games, right?
Any word on the soundtrack being available for purchase sometime in the future?

skullbone: Same thing as Rocking Like A Hurricane bro!
avatar
drealmer7: how is shooting the same as rocking?

I don't even know how hurricanes "rock"

why can't GOG staff just tell me wtf they mean?
It means this.

Congrats, you've pointed out that this is a new game in a long-running genre and thus costs more than pirating older games in the genre. Did you also complain about Legend of Grimrock because people could just pirate Eye of the Beholder instead?

Boohoo, have I upset the muppet brigade.

drealmer7: shooting like a hurricane?

what does that even mean?
That they copied a WW2 British plane perhaps?

What was your point then? All you said is "Why should I buy it, when I can pirate it?"
You can ask that just about any game O.o.

£27 for a 1980's basic shooter with no goodies, a joke discount (across all these games), directors cut whatever that means. Just need some pre order dlc manual, regional pricing and we have a new and improved gog release for which the muppet brigade will praise and defend to the death. Just another week of fun.

I wonder who is the one actually upset.

You mean a 2016 game which you don't have played so have no idea how basic it is. The genre itself originates from the 1960s but if that was relevant then no game would justify its price since most genres originates from that period of time.

Complain as much as you like and be offended by people telling you continuous baseless ranting is irritating, no problem with that but at least get your facts straight.

So, if you'll allow me, I'll get back have fun with Kermit and the gang...

Why is it that people who can't come up with decent insults are always the ones who want to use them the most?

Anime-BlackWolf: Considering the called price tag, I will reconsider and get "Cuphead" instead. This is no RPG or Tactical Strategy Game with many hours of different game content... :(
Unlike an RPG or a "tactical strategy game", Raiden V is actually meant to be replayed, leading to many gameplay hours. You might not be able to play the game for years, but you can definitely play it for some months. Even the top players haven't exhausted everything in Raiden V, and the game's been out for well over a year.

mistermumbles: I never got nor will I ever get the appeal of bullet hell shmups. I'll take the likes of Tyrian, Raptor, Stargunner, R-Type, Gradius, Pulstar, etc. over that any day of the week.
This isn't really a "bullet hell" game... unless you consider a number of others. Gradius, for example, absolutely is bullet hell. Salamander in particular is cited as the inspiration for bullet hell. Raiden V largely sticks to the core of the original Raiden, which is arguably proto-bullet hell like Salamander.

The thing about R-Type and Pulstar is that they try to attack you with enemies and the environment more than bullets. It's not really better or worse.

Rathori: This costs how freaking much??? I can get a triple-A game on Steam for the same price. The only way I'm ever buying this is with an 80% discount.
You might be able to get a AAA game that's been slashed multiple times for $30, but definitely not a (near) brand new game. Well, unless you go hunting for a ridiculous sale on some shady website.

Moss might not be a AAA developer, but they are at least a B developer like Platinum.

Please don't hunt for sales. Buy good games at retail price if you can. A lot of developers, such as Moss, deserve your money. Some do not, but those developers are usually very well known and generally don't make games anymore.

Bonsewswesa: By "online features" you wouldn't happen to mean saving the LOCAL score would you? Like what happened with Clustertruck and Nex Machina? Sorry did I say "happened", what I meant was they're still broken, even now.
Local scores save perfectly fine here.

The online features are the online leaderboards and the Cheer feature, a sort of acknowledgement that others are playing the game. I don't really know how to describe it, but it's a cute side thing really.

But not SO often, then other genres. Would you play this game 3 hours a day for 5 days a week? Would not think so...

I played the other ones. But 1-2 hours, 1 day of the week. Replayvalue yes, but this does not justify the price update. Sorry.
Damn, that is one huge price for a 2d bullet hell game.
Would be great to see Raiden II get a release on here. Hopefully it's not too far off.
