Actually it is one of the better Mafia-themed turn based strategy after their first mega patch last year. I learned a lot about American gangster as well.

deonast: ...Ah but here you are subject to everyone else's view. If everyone said don't go into the water it isn't safe (after they had gone into the water) do you believe them? ...
I have to admit that sometimes I just go with the main stream.

Anyway thanks to all pointing out that the initial high price and the large number of DLCs may have biased the rating on GOG downwards. The game probably is better than the rating suggests. Maybe on should modify the rating to overweight more recent ratings which better take into account the current state of the game.

edit: I did not find a wish about it and therefore added one.

http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/overemphasize_recent_votes_in_game_rating_to_better_reflect_actual_status

"The game might be rated badly initially because it was expensive and/or buggy. That might have changed over time. The recent ratings are therefore more valuable in determining the current quality of the game. Weigh them higher in computing the average."

I'll be interested to see GOGlodyte reviews of the gold edition; now that the game has been heavily patched and expanded.

Niggles: For the record this was the most balanced first impression/review of the game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qnmtsh9Iuu0 (Totalbiscuit's - people would have seen this before)
Being Australian I guess I'm not one of "Totalbiscuit's - people" but I have seen it before :)

Actually based on that review I bought a copy of the game, though not full price as that wasn't realistic

Wouldn't be surprise some reference to the fact that more than 4 months have passed since patch 1.07 was released and GOG version is still 1.06, that apparently has a bug that doesn't allow you to end the game's campaign.
Plus, heavily expanded isn't fair... FTL is a better example of that, not Omerta; the enemy AI added to Omerta and businesses were sub par additions that feel more like ad-hoc solutions in response to the community outcry for the lack of challenge rather than proper new content added to the game.

But I agree that would be better to have reviews discussing the actual game rather than publisher/retailer's questionable decisions. On the other hand I guess that if people feel like they're being cheated or unheard, they will obviously look for ways to find exposure for their grievances.

JudasIscariot: The Japanese Incentive DLC requires 1.06 and above.
For some reason, in order to be purchased, "The Japanese Incentive DLC" also requires you to already own "The Japanese Incentive DLC" here on GOG..

Please note that you are required to own DLC: The Japanese Incentive on GOG.com to be able to purchase and play DLC: The Japanese Incentive

Psyringe: This will be the definitive edition of the game ... until Kalypso releases the next DLC.

Pardon the cynicism, but the way how Kalypso is selling "Complete" or "Gold" versions right before they release new DLC has disappointed me so much that I won't buy Kalypso games until they are at least two years old. You simply can't trust their labels.

They did this thing for Tropico 4 as well as Omerta, so at this point it's pretty clear that it's intentional. And it's a marketing tactic that I'm not particularly fond of.
Khmm .

I have the base game (no Japanese dlc) and I think it's pretty damn good. Especially the battles are very fun to play.

While I can't afford to buy the Japanese dlc, I have no doubt it is worth it. To anyone considering getting this game and wants a turn based battle system, within a "lite" strategy game, I recommend this game. IMO it's 100% worth its money.

I do hope they release a sequel of any sorts, some time in the future.

Crosmando: This discussion above kinda reminds of the situation with SoTS: The Pit and it's DLC, I have the base game and all the DLCs, but I don't have the "Gold" version (which presumably has everything in 1 installer, rather than 3 installers and 2 patches). It would be easier if someone owns the base game + all DLCs then change it on their account so they automatically have the "Gold" edition (when it comes out).

I honestly find the way DLC and different editions of games are handled here is a bit confusing.
Unless i'm wrong, For the Gold edtion of SoTS :there's no all in one unstaller., either you have bought separaltly the dlc (like me) either you have bought the gold edtion , which include all dlc but you have to install the dlc seperatly aswell .

now, this discussion i got with Judas or the Support (can't recall) have some months :) , so this could have been changed.

and i believe that's why you don't have access to the gold edition , since you already have base game + dlc (i know that's stupid >.>)

Fosterinn: I definitely agree on this. Owners who already have parts of a game a game to equal Gold or Deluxe should be marked as having it., with both the Gold or Deluxe and the different parts of the game to remove confusion. There are multiple games that I have seen this error on.

timppu: Based on Risen 2 Gold Edition, it works to the opposite direction though. Ie. as I bought the Risen 2 Gold Edition, the two other separate Risen 2 items got greyed out as well.

I'd hope it would work the opposite direction as well, especially in cases where the "Gold Edition" is simply a bundle of the separate installers.
Divinity: Dragon Commander suffers from issue where, when you bought the base game and later bought The Imperial Edition DLC, The Imperial Edition will not be greyed out, even though it is a base game + Imperial Edition DLC installer.
Don´t know if other games have the same problem, Risen 2 Gold does not.

I agree, its much more convenient to have just 1 big installer, and select the wanted components - I have SoTS The Pit and all the DLC, but I dont have the gold edition package :/
Daw, too bad Gold Edition isn't marked for me. I really need to try Omerta one of these days. Before all the DLCs it kept crashing after a short time, but my video drivers/game have been updated multiple times since then, so hopefully it agrees with my computer this time.
Too little too late
