Outrunning oppression.

Mirror's Edge™, the energetic free-running action game with the striking visual design, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 50% launch discount.

The gleaming, utopian appearance of the city cannot fool Faith. She's seen how things are run around here, with everyday activity being monitored closely and sensitive pieces of information constantly changing hands high above the oblivious citizens. Now her sister is being framed for a crime she didn't commit and Faith must employ every bit of her resourcefulness and parkour talents to run the rooftops, avoid the authorities, and expose the truth.
The revolutionary first-person running mechanics and intense hand-to-hand combat make Mirror's Edge™ into a spectacular action romp, boosted by its pristine aesthetics and unmatched sense of flow. Leap, climb, race, and slide across the dangerous cityscape, always staying mindful of your surroundings and occasionally being ready to flee rather than fight, when the situation grows desperate.

Navigate Faith through high-speed chases atop the city's skyscrapers and discover what's hiding behind the Mirror's Edge™, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 50% discount will last until September 29, 12:59 PM UTC.

WesleyB: Does this version comes with time trials?
I was just going to ask the same question (the pure time trials map pack which has some of the toughest creative maps).

moonshineshadow: Just be glad that you are not in Switzerland. Because EA really wants to rip you off then. If I'd get the game on Steam it would be $30... At least here it is "only" $20. Same for the other games.
Ouch, that's some hefty pricing.

Yep, but that is nothing. Want to know what I'd need to pay on Steam for the Spore collection?
$90...
[edit] Oh not completely true. If I buy all three parts as bundle it is just $60.

O_o What the heck?
Edit: Even if it's "just" 60$...

PaterAlf: Great. So we are not only paying more than we would on Steam, but also some additional money, because they are taking the US base price and assume that €=$. :(

Will wait for a bigger discount in that case (at least 80%). To the wishlist it goes.
It's not the first time EA did that. It's the same with Dead Space here :(

I've owned this one for a looooong time but never got around to playing it.

Yep, good call. Like The Saboteur, I have to wonder why the price is as high as it is, given the fact this has been on sale regularly for 5 bucks for ages.
Ohhhhhhh yeeeaaaahh!!!!

This is hands down the game I wanted to see most on gog. I've been eagerly anticipating it since I first saw the brilliant trailer and held off buying it because of DRM bullshit for nearly 8 years. Now I can finally play it. Thanks, GOG and EA!

cadillac25jg: Another great EA release! After Dead Space, Dragon Age, and this... I'm really hoping Mass Effect and Battlefield are around the corner.
I wouldn't say no to the ME trilogy, but that's a tall order. The third part is heavily tied to Origin. And getting only 1 or 1+2 would feel weird. ME1 works as standalone game, but only as long as you don't know there are two sequels that directly continue the story.

Still, good to have some potential obsessions in store for the time when we finally get that Oblivion/Skyrim/Fallouts obsession out of the way :)

Nice, but sadly EA always tries to rip you off :-/

Just compared it for me (Prices for Poland):

Origin: 4,99€ (Normal Price)
GOG.com: 17,39€ (Normal Price) // 8,59€ (Release Discount)

Like what, EA? It's the same bs with DeadSpace. I can buy both DeadSpace games on Origin and get away cheaper than just buying the first one on gog, today...

Basically EA wants to convince us that DRM-free is more expensive and Origin is #1 ?! :P That's at least what I think, they want to achieve.
Nice to see more classic EA games! Maybe Dead Space 2 will show up someday?
I wanted to play this game years ago but the DRM was a no-no for me. Thanks EA for considering releasing it here at last. You can have my money. :)

damien: obviously the best of today's releases. does anyone know how this one compares to console versions?
I have the same question. I actually own this on PS3, but will buy it again for my GOG collection if it's a better version.

Also, will all of you PLEASE quit bitching about the price? Seriously, I spent $6 on beverages yesterday, and it's not like we're comparing apples to apples since this is the only place you can get this DRM Free. I really don't like it when a thread turns to a bunch of people whining about a $5 price difference when we could be discussing the quality of the actual game. </rant off>
Fantastic releases GOG! I continue to hope we'll see Mass Effect(s) and missing EA classics high up on the wishlist.
WOW! This is a huge release from EA, isn't it? I've never played Mirror's Edge, but from what I heard of it, it's one of the masterpieces of gaming.

First person parkouring, depending on the FOV, might prove just as dangerous as real life parkouring for my brain. Considering this release, I'll have to try it at the very least.

WesleyB: Does this version comes with time trials? ..or any way to implement them at all?
I just installed the game and launched it and the time trials are available in the menu but you apparently need a EA account to access them. Fresh screenshot below.
