Didn't we just have the "this is not isometric" discussion a while ago with a different game? Someone needs to get these game developers/marketers a dictionary. Or a link to Wikipedia.

I have no idea what that means.
The protagonist reminds me of the dude from SNK's Magician Lord ;)

Isometric is not a perspective, as all objects retain their size no matter where they are positioned on the scene.

I guess so, so what would you call it. :P
Usually see it referred to as Isometric perspective.

Best would probably be to dilute the term similar to "roguelike". How about "isometricky perspective"? Or "shifted isometric field perspective"? Or "iso-view"?

Edit: Sorry, forgot the smiley: ;-)

45° floaty eyeball view? I mean seriously, does it matter, most people will understand what Isometric games would look like, PG Pyramid tea bags are tetrahedrons, do you think thats going to catch on?

Yes, definitely.

blakstar: I have to say, when I first saw this, it reminded me of an old ZX Spectrum game, Knight Lore, but, obviously, a much more colourful and faster version.
Likewise. It seems like a very definite tribute to all those isometric Spectrum ZX games of long ago. (Which other people seem to be saying as well.)

The term to use is isometric projection.

It might. In Finland we have/had tetrahedral juice containers that were called tetras.

But what about when, like this game, it's not actually isometric at all?

plagren: But what about when, like this game, it's not actually isometric at all?
Yes, it's just a misnomer here. The only part of the game perspective that it shares with isometric projection is the location of the viewpoint, which is at the same angle from the X, Y, and Z axes.

Hehe, I remember that game.
