Plays tough, but deep. Looking for commitment.

Lords of Xulima - Deluxe Edition will gladly scratch your old school RPG itch, with a weeklong -30% launch discount, DRM-free right here on GOG.com!

If we had to say one thing about Lords of Xulima - Deluxe Edition, it would be that it's huge - over 100 gameplay hours huge. This is no sequel, remake, or reboot either - Lords of Xulima is a completely original fantasy RPG which mixes isometric exploration with first-person turn based combat for all the good old school gameplay you know and love. Lords of Xulima - Deluxe Edition is the most complete package - it includes two pieces of extra content: Talisman of Goldot DLC and the Special Digital Rewards package. The DLC includes three artifacts of epic giving power to help you on your journey, while the digital rewards are a package of impressive bonus content including an Original Soundtrack, a detailed Bestiary & Mythology of Xulima, Map of Xulima, and more!

Make your commitment to Lords of Xulima - Deluxe Edition, or pick up the standard edition and grab the edition upgrade later on, all with a -30% launch discount, DRM-free on GOG.com! The special promo will last for one week, until Thursday, January 22 at 11:00 AM GMT

CharlesGrey: The visual style for this is such a mixed bag. Some elements look great, and then others look rather... unprofessional? Semi-professional? Also not a fan of the pre-rendered graphics for the monsters. Since they use hand-painted graphics for many other elements, I would have preferred hand-painted creature sprites as well. Perhaps it's just a personal preference, but I find pre-rendered graphics usually work best for backgrounds, but for characters real-time 3D or hand-drawn graphics seem to look nicer.

That aside, the game looks interesting, and the price also appears reasonable. I also consider it a plus that it seems to be optimized for tablets and/or mouse-only input. I find that kind of RPG perfect to play while having a break for some food, since you don't need to keep your other hand on the keyboard all the time. :)

Wurzelkraft: I'm actually surprised to not see regional pricing or is this just another error? *hides*

CharlesGrey: Good point -- that's another plus, if it is indeed one price for all. ( Well, a plus for most people, anyway. )

Edit: Also, does anyone know how the save system works?
its more like a mix of rpg with casual style, some parts resemble the style of casual games.
I like most casual games, so i am familiar with casual games and the art and animation types.
I had it on steam because i did not know wqhen it would arrive on GOG, could have been days or months.
I will play the gog now and see if the slugginess was because of the steam crap that needs to run in the background, or because of the fact that the game engine isnot optimised like baldurs, baldurs plays way smoother.
Hmm, i will give it a try...and put it at my pile of shame(Games that i would love to test but didn't had the time yet :) for now

Thanks. I was looking all over the game card for that piece of info. It only ocurred to me that it would be in the announcement right after writing my post. I don't know why I keep forgetting that.
Is there a "run" button or is the slow pace of the character something one gets adjusted to?

Others mentioned that you can apparently move more quickly and/or run.
Comes into thread laughing

Bwahaha, haha, haaa.

gasps for air, bwahahahahaha, falls to the ground, rolling on the ground.

Stops laughing, looks around. "Sorry, I just came from the Pillars of Eternity Royal Edition thread."

Lords of Xulima, this looks like a quite interesting game. I am watching a let's play and it makes quite a good expression at first glance.
