Plays tough, but deep. Looking for commitment.

Lords of Xulima - Deluxe Edition will gladly scratch your old school RPG itch, with a weeklong -30% launch discount, DRM-free right here on GOG.com!

If we had to say one thing about Lords of Xulima - Deluxe Edition, it would be that it's huge - over 100 gameplay hours huge. This is no sequel, remake, or reboot either - Lords of Xulima is a completely original fantasy RPG which mixes isometric exploration with first-person turn based combat for all the good old school gameplay you know and love. Lords of Xulima - Deluxe Edition is the most complete package - it includes two pieces of extra content: Talisman of Goldot DLC and the Special Digital Rewards package. The DLC includes three artifacts of epic giving power to help you on your journey, while the digital rewards are a package of impressive bonus content including an Original Soundtrack, a detailed Bestiary & Mythology of Xulima, Map of Xulima, and more!

Make your commitment to Lords of Xulima - Deluxe Edition, or pick up the standard edition and grab the edition upgrade later on, all with a -30% launch discount, DRM-free on GOG.com! The special promo will last for one week, until Thursday, January 22 at 11:00 AM GMT

Maxvorstadt: Well, I can`t decide wether to buy or not! Sounds interesting, but when the fighting is like in the one Wizardry game I played, then I should better not buy it. Damn, it itches my RPG nerve, but I fear that the battles are as bad as in the Wizardry game! Can somebody help me, pleeeease?!?
I own it on steam, the standard version is very much worth it. I have only played it for about 3 hours and it is fun, though the battles can be unforgiving and wizard characters seem essential in order to win them; battles can be a bit unbalanced.

Unforgiving battles? This usually means that the battles are very hard, right? Hmm, not surre if I should buy it then.

Kunovski: I've read in some reviews that Xulima is HEAVY on the grinding, which gets very tiresome quite soon... while Pillars promised much more story driven experience... so it depends whether you prefer constant fights, or more balanced content (can't promise anything about Pillars though, as they're not out yet)

Luned: Point is, at this moment in time, I'd prefer to spend $20.99 on play-today Xulima than plunk down $54.99 for the equivalent (Champion) edition of Pillars. I don't expect them to be identical games, and I'll almost certainly eventually buy Pillars, but probably not as a preorder.
yeah, the money issue, that is true... boycott preordering!
So basically the "Deluxe" version just has the soundtrack?

Edited for clarity and because I am doing three things at once :P

Matruchus: So guys can somebody tell me to which game playstyle wise this is similar and I must agree the pricing for the deluxe version is very good.

JudasIscariot: Combat is more like the Wizardry games :) The rest is an isometric RPG :)
Thanks for answering that. Never played a wizardry game but sure am interested in this one :)
That was weird. I just suffered a BSOD (only my second ever on this computer), and when Windows was back up and running, I reopened Firefox to find that this release thread was 404: Eaten By GOG-Bear. It seems the entire thread (and associated newspost) was migrated to a new URL for some reason -- maybe someone realized how absurd "release_blords_of_xulima_deluxe_editionb" looked? (It would seem some crazy GOG staffer keeps trying to bold the text in the URLs for some release posts, hence the added B's.)

Yeah there was a bold text attack made by gog a bit before. Looked very weird and some things still don't look ok at the bottom of the page.
VERY nice release.

If you going to keep up like this, my backlog gonna grow too unwieldy financially ;)
For now, wishlisted, would like to own this one :)

Oh hell yes!! Thank you Numantian Games!
Wow, GOG, so many RPG games this week! :)

Anyway, nice release ... have to see a bit of gameplay to decide if it is worth to invest (into the basice version) or wait for a bigger discount.

Nice to know, will ask for a GOG key
That's right, GOG. Take all my money! =P Though I'm not entirely convinced those deluxe extras are worth the asking price. *shrug*

As antiquated as the game may look, those enemy attack animations look quite charming.
Damn, this is a tough decision. I had decided to wait for the promised Linux version, but now there's a 30% discount ...
