undeadcow: Is there a "run" button or is the slow pace of the character something one gets adjusted to?
hold shift key (windows) note that the food will decrease rapidly :D

in town he walks slowly unless you hold shift key

first i thought he walked faster the longer you kept the button pressed, but using shift key and mouse button he runs.

i got whacked by mushrooms, if you walk to the top corner left on the pc screen then tehre is another exit with a guard in the town walk through and go right then up, you see a swap or something

i died in 2 minutes or so, boom all party dead as a doornail i love this game :D

I think i will attack everything i see.

I have gold plenty, 8 tons or so.

Press Caps or Alt to toggle running. Used to be Caps, but iirc it got patched to either Alt or Ctrl, I can't remember which.

You're not supposed to be whacking the mushrooms at the start. Their challenge rating is impossible. Clear out the easier challenges and the cave at the start area first. Then kill the town guards, then go east to Nabros.

You can grind every area for XP. Random encounters work like Final Fantasy on the map but they're limited. Once you clear the random encounters in the particular area, you'll get a congratulatory notification and an XP bonus. Though it can get tiresome to grind everything like I did.

CharlesGrey: The visual style for this is such a mixed bag.

At least it's better than what I can draw.

I love the idea of a game in which you have to grind for XP before taking on a mushroom. ^_^

The game sounds great, but I'm living in post-Christmas poverty atm, so it's wishlisted for now, despite the reasonable price (of course, *anything* sounds reasonable compared to the Pillars Of Eternity Royal Edition).

Can anyone tell me if the deluxe content adds a lot to the game, or is just for completionists?
Looks like a nice game!
But wow the pricing on GoG... >_> This game (Deluxe edition) costs 500 RUR (my currency) on Steam right now without any discount, and here on GOG it's over 1400 RUR with what is claimed to be a 30% discount. Pffft I'll wait and see but if the pricing goes only higher on GoG for this one I may actually opt for a Steam version this time even though it's DRM...

Jumps from English to Spanish and back again.
Great release! From what I played on Steam, before my Hard drive crashed, the game is fun. I just wish that GOG would get first crack on some new releases. Hard-core. oldschool RPG goodness 8).
Looks interesting.
I'll probably pick it up when the Linux version arrives. Soo.. wishlisted.

What is your current opinion on the game? Do you recommend it? At first you seemed very enthusiastic about the game but bacame disappointed later on, right?

IronArcturus: So basically the "Deluxe" version just has the soundtrack?

JudasIscariot: Edited for clarity and because I am doing three things at once :P

Any chance of a FLAC soundtrack later down the line? Doesn't mention it on the game page. If I buy a soundtrack I generally want it to be as good quality as possible. I took a quick look on bandcamp didn't see it there for sale.

I could ask what people think of the soundtrack but that is always kind of subjective.

Yeah, the opening and start seemed incredibly promising. Combat is great, exploration is great, world is huge. Though once you reach mid game, you'll slowly notice the pattern of the things you have to do (spoilers if I elaborate further). Sadly the town sidequests are just generic fetch and kill quests. I'm spoiled by games like Baldur's Gate 2's sidequests, so almost every RPG's sidequests feel kinda generic one way or the other, even some of Wasteland 2's.
You can get by the game and complete without grinding if you max out Learning right off the bat. I didn't max out Learning, so I grinded all areas until they're clear of monsters and that felt tiresome especially if you have RPG OCD. Combat is awesome and leveling requires planning though. Ending is good and long and definitely hints a sequel. I'll definitely get the next game but wish they spice up the quests a little, put more emphasis on the story and maybe slightly reduce the number of encounters required to clear an area.

They just sent me my GOG key for backers. Love them :D
I tried it yesterday and was not impressed, I might still get it during a bigger discount though.
Only been able to play it for a few hours last night (I've taken on some rats and spiders and green lizardy things and survived), but so far what it reminds me of most are NWN2's Storm of Zehir expansion (not regular NWN2) and Temple of Elemental Evil. I haven't played any of the Wizardry games, but I'm guessing the combat screen is why people are comparing those two. So far, at least, this is not at all a loot-heavy game. This is a game where getting your first piece of bad armor on a character is a big deal, because it makes a big difference and everybody had to bleed to get even those crummy boots to put on one person. That's right, your party of six starts off with one weapon each, not more than two pieces of armor total between them, and not enough money to buy any more.

It's glorious.

thats too bad... i still need to do a lot before i finish the game, but the game is good, and like a user said, the quests side can be improved on.
But i think because some things look a bit like casual gaming some users might not like it , i like casual games i have loads of it on cd/dvd (retail) and a lot of DRM free bought from GG.

If there will be a sequel or so and the game stays like it is (no 3d FPS) then i will buy that aswell if the list price <=23.99

correct, funny thing is that it looks like the total max weight counts for all characters?

equiping each member is abit awkward , in jagged alliance you could drop items on the floor and another member could pick them up, most games have a quick way of equiping a member, i do have to figure out how i can equip each member.

Another weird thing: a guy in that town offers to train you, i did but i did not see any stats improved, i expected to see a +x number like in baldurs and even in avadon/avernum, that shows how many points you have left to spend on a trait.
Where is that part located?
These are the small things that seem to be different, if i can figure that out i be on my way to kick some butt ingame :D

Are you saying you've found a demo version? If so, could you link to it, please?
