JudasIscariot: And I can't wait for people to ask for MORE of them so we can go through all this one more time :D
I want to ask for more but I feel like it's a trap...

Well, is there any hope of seeing the Enigmatic Hint thread revived this year, seeing as that was always fun and the hints have been your province lately?

Yes, but I need to work a wee bit on my hintsmanship :)

"all this"?
I can't stop thinking how the PSVita owners and (old) goggers have something in common after reading these threads.... :P

Anyway, weird release, does it still have an active community? *checks steam*... uhm... Bigger than i thought. I tried it for half an hour and quitted, the game isn't begginers friendly considering most of the adversary (aka active community) are the veterans...

JudasIscariot: As for older games, while we would LOVE to have them up in the New & Coming section as "Coming Soon" or something like that, we'd rather make sure that a. we have the rights all taken care of (remember: the older, the more entagled the web) and b. the games work reliably and well enough that they maintain our particular standard of quality that we have become known for when it comes to classic releases :)

So either we simply rush older releases and give info about them OR or we ensure everything is 100% good to go and give everyone a surprise release :)
avatar
Wishbone: Or you could, you know, give the information when everything is in place. I somehow doubt that you only manage to secure the rights and test the game on the same day that you release it. I assume that you do actually know, for instance, which games you will release next week.
This would be absolutely true in many cases. I also actually think people would prefer a "we're working on and pretty sure we'll get but can't guarantee" section, with the odd "sorry that fell through" comment rather than this absolute information blackout we have now (subject to confidentiality agreements of course).

Someone at gog mistakenly thinks it's better marketing to release a game with no pre-release hype. It's a real shame gog can't see how much their amatuer marketing is costing them :(

Dark Helmet: "What is this?"

Cornell Sanders: "This is now sir, what you are seeing now is happening now."

Helmet: "What happened to then?"

Sanders: "We missed it"

Helmet: "When?"

Sanders: "Just now sir"

Helmet: "When will then be now?"

Sanders: "Soon."

Sorry couldn't resist felt it was coming with the back and forth.
avatar
JudasIscariot: Well, sorry we're not releasing the oldies fast enough. But think of it this way: at least there's something to look forward to :)
avatar
JudasIscariot: You can look forward to games, lots and lots of games :P

Considering my stance on regional pricing, and that I extend the boycott to anything with a publisher or developer that has anything regionally priced too, there's not that many games I can still look forward to on here. If anything, I'm seeing the valid catalog from my point of view shrink when an existing company that until then was flat pricing has something added that isn't.
As for oldies and the problems with those, there are plenty who are asking solely for real classics, but I for one, while I'd like those to continue popping up as well, just reminded you of your initial limits. A minimum of 3 years old and those pricing limits don't necessarily put you right into a rights tangle or the need to take the game through all hoops to get it to work. Hell, as I've said before, Skyrim would now fit those criteria!

And now excuse me while I do a little qft-ing:

avatar
omega64: There's nothing to look forward to really as we don't have a release schedule. :P
You only know you don't like the release once it's actually released.
avatar
Wishbone: Face it, with regards to future releases, GOG is about as secretive as they come. If there isn't an actual pre-order involved, you just don't tell us about any games until they are actually released. It's costing you sales too. Lots of people who would have preferred to buy a given game here have given up and bought it elsewhere, only to see it released here shortly afterwards.

All we ask, for the thousandth time, is a little information, is all ;-)

Nothing is going to change about that. We asked for a coming soon list a thousand times already and gog just does not care. Its not as if it would take them more then an hour for the programers to make another tab next to the new&coming games list for coming games (face it gog there are zero upcoming games listed there before they are released here - only Crawl and Pillars of Eternity is up there for months).
