Looks at the same time low budget but truly good. There can never be too many detective RPGs, so to the library it goes :)

P.S.: Despite what the game card says, it seems that offline installers are already available, both for Windows and Linux

I'm from Bavaria myself but I really suck at detective games so I hate to say that this one is not for me. Although I'd love to see my home's landscapes in a video game :D

Nice, I always welcome games with an unusual setting.

I bothered to check how the game fits (present days) Bavaria, starting from game's title:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_the_most_common_surnames_in_Germany
> Data updated to 12 February 2021.
> 1. Müller, occupation (miller)
> 2. Schmidt, occupation (smith)
> 3. Schneider, occupation (tailor)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_the_most_common_surnames_in_Germany#Regional_differences
> Although Müller is the most common name in German-speaking countries, in some areas other surnames are more frequent than Müller. The common names Schmidt and Schmitz lead in the central German-speaking and eastern Low German-speaking areas.
....
Bauer leads in eastern Upper German-speaking Bavaria. Rarer names tend to accumulate in the north and south. Huber is common in southern Bavaria and is, with the exception of Munich, the most frequent name in that area.
Huh, my first thought was: "Pathologic but less hardcore?", and the sole reviewer on GOG actually calls it that.

I wonder how good the plot, writing and atmosphere are because it's crucial for a game like that in a real world setting. Screenshots can't tell much in that regard, but the ones they chose also certainly don't make it look like a thrilling adventure.

I got curious and watched a video review including an interview. Apparently the story and especially background story of some side characters are pretty good and interesting - best the game has to offer. The technical side of the game however was not so convincing (some clipping and performance problems along with some minor display issues).

Oh yeah I love that one! Got it at the other place but waiting for it to come here as well. I do agree it is the best by far.
Third person and proper graphics, what a delightful change!
The first game in this series was, and still is, a technical disaster AFAIK.
UE4 horrible performance, was supposed to be improved by converting to UE5; it didn't. The people behind this may be creative, but they seem to be unable, or don't have the manpower, to handle a complex engine.
