GALAK-Z an advanced, open-world space shooter, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 20% launch discount on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.

Fast, brutal, and responsive. What else could you possibly ask of an action-packed, open-world, physics-driven, bullet-hellish, space dogfighting game?
GALAK-Z harkens back to the days of 2D space shooters, but puts every possible modern twist and improvement on the formula. You take the helm of a cutting-edge, sublimely-controllable spacecraft - it's you vs. the universe - you're outgunned, but with a bit of practice you'll also be unmatched.
You also may just get the chance to transform into a hulking, laser-sword mech.

Dominate the wide wide space in GALAK-Z available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 20% launch discount will last for two weeks, until November 13, 3:59 PM GMT.

In the press:
“There are a thousand little points of tension beyond the "die and restart" loop, and that's what helps GALAK-Z stand comfortably among the best roguelikes ever created.” -- Polygon

“The amount of love and effort that went into crafting GALAK-Z is plainly evident...17-Bit has produced nothing short of a masterpiece.” -- Hardcore Gamer

“GALAK-Z's controls are smartly designed and responsive, which is crucial in a game like this. What really pushes it to the next level is the tremendous amount of detail put into the enemy design and the combat. It has a steep learning curve, but mastering it is an extremely rewarding experience.” --US Gamer

leon30: Judging from the first 2 screenshots this is Trigun meet Gundam right? :D
Looks like Superdimensional Fortress Macross to me. :)
My childhood made me fav'd it. :D
I've been looking forward to this game's PC release, glad to see it's on GOG.

Hope to see a discount during the holiday sale.
Uninteresting to me but I guess others are interested.
Oh cool. I saw a Let's Play of this a few weeks ago. It definitely looked like my type of game.

I'll pick it up this weekend

This makes my head hurt just looking at the screenshots. =)

BTW, what's the deal with the innocuous comments at the top being low-rated?

Painted_Doll: Another street corner discovered by Gog .
Huh?

phaolo: Wasn't GalaX-Y already out? :P

Also.. that scammer Gog8 at 285 rep.. -_-
Is he a scammer? I've always lamented how you can basically buy rep on here by just giving away (or pretending you're giving away) a game or two.
Wishlisted. Too many purchases recently.
Has anyone tried this game before? Does it have any randomization?

Well the gamecard mentions:
Procedurally-assembled levels
so i guess there will be randomisation in it.

He is.
And about that recurring "buy rep" thing: even if some did it, would that be a great problem? Games in exchange for a +1 useless number seems a great deal.

What's with all the negative comments? I'm not a huge fan of the Space genre myself, but this looks like a fun and well polished game.

Is this a recurring theme? I guess I don't follow the forums closely enough.

I do wonder a little how hard it would be to say you were giving away a random game, and then make a fake account to claim you won it on.

But, scamming conjecture aside, I guess I don't like the idea that someone can be a complete jerk or scammer on the forums, get rightfully lower rep, then just have a couple giveaways to get that rep back up (I don't have any numbers, but pretty sure it's higher than +1 rep / game). It seems if you have the spare money, you don't really have to suffer the accountability. Or at least it's less of a warning to some new person that just sees a post from someone with 'very good rep' points.

I'm obviously not talking about fake GAs: that certainly isn't buying rep.
Also, uprepping via alts is way easier, as the scammer "Nes" has shown.

I don't think that a GA by a big jerk\scammer would earn many rep points without any repentance.
I was really hoping if there were any releases today it would either be Costume Quest 2, or something really horror based. Rather dissapointed, although procedurally genorated levels are a kind of horror I guess.
