amrit9037: I am glad that I never brought this game.
Amount of DLC is getting ridiculous.
All Stardock games are like that. You get a barebones base game and then they trickledown game content per dlc.

"Waiter, There is a game in my DLC."
"Don't worry sir more is coming. No NOT games. More DLC."

McStardonald's Staff : "Would you like some DLC with that?"

towerbooks3192: I want to like this game. Sadly for some weird reason every Stardock 4x I played feels a bit off. For some reason it doesn't feel fun. Will wait for all DLCs to come out and will get them on a sale.
Very good strategy. I usually do the same. Only difficult point is estimating when they really stop working on the thing.

Is there anything known for GalCiv III.

When they announce the next installment of the series (GalCiv IV), i guess then it's a good time to buy. By that time i guess every DLC will have been released. Also, they usually sell a Complete edition with all DLCs included, although sometimes these versions aren't so... complete! ;)

The Paradox model, in other words. Although Paradox has pushed its business model further with every successive game.

I would say that "pushed it's business model further" is an understatement to how Paradox works. :P

I acknowledge that I - purposedly- underestimated a tad the DLC behavioural pattern in question. For the record, CK II is currently scoring 58 dlcs, with a combined retail value of 241€, and EUIV 41 dlcs, crv. 220€. The previous generation sported twice less extensions, and the one even before, that saw Paradox move into that business model, 4 or 5

Well, they give the term geometric progression a new meaning... I wonder what future holds for us. :P

Crusader Kings III , 96 DLC's over 4 years, with a combined retail value just Under 500€ , steam exclsusive?

Well, so be it. At least I hope they release CKII on GOG by then! ;)
I don't know what the purpose is of giving us Steam owners the base game but not the DLC. You should talk with them about that and see if they'll do something for people who already have copies registered on their website.

I'd rather buy a Stardock game than a Paradox one though. Their DLC policies are insane. Skins this, races that, music pack those, a hundred content packs...they're the real whores of penny pinching.

But, my dear, what could be the purpose beside creating an incentive for users to buy these dlcs again ? There is, in a monetary economy, no free lunch. If you get Something "for free", either you pay for it through other means, or others pay for you :-P

I once was a Paradox Fan, but when they started to implement this busines model, I drifted away from their games, until I could get them on GOG, at a discount, and with the full dlc collection nicely packed together. Problem is, that was fine when they released EU III, or HoI III, but the next generation, even at a 50%/60% discount will still be a tad expensive....

There's that, and also Steam's API doesn't register which DLC you have, so GOG Connect cannot transfer them across. :)

I know that already. I'm saying Stardock shouldextend their courtesy beyond the call of duty of the limited API, even if they have to do it on a one by one basis.
Weird i own the game on GOG and all dlc that are released so far but there is no rise of the terrans DLC under the DLC section whats up with that? Or im missing something?
