JudasIscariot: It's much more complex as not only do you have to wear disguises BUT you have to act like the person you are disguised as :) For example, if you disguise yourself as an infantryman then you have to act like one (you'll see how to do so in the game) and stay away from higher ranked officers as it's not as simple as Hitman's disguise system :)

You can also peek through keyholes, knock people out and hide their bodies in various containers and more :)
Sounds awesome. I will get it!

Telika: This I don't know. Never tried that. So much stuff on screen that you want a lot of room anyway. Not only for surroundings awareness, but also... depending on the moment, or your mood, you play more or less focused on the 3D environment or on the map display (the map makes it a more commando-like game), but often with both. So, I'd say, the more details you can fit on the screen, the better...

If it has a window mode, I'd still suggest a full-screen play.

IronArcturus: Thanks for the info! Also, have you played that Men of War game that's in the promo? Is that game any good?
No, on this I have absolutely no idea. And I'm curious too.
If I'd known this was coming here, I wouldn't have picked it up on Steam!

apehater: moment of truth includet?
No not yet, its a separate game, coming soon hopefully.
Spasiba!

Isntabuy - that is all I have to say :)

Licurg: Is shooting your way through everything an option ?

jamyskis: Licurg, our friendly neighbourhood mass murderer.
That's a pretty apt description for much of SMERSH.
Hell yeah, finally! I've been meaning to get this game since like forever. I've heard that it's pretty similar to Hitman and executed pretty well too. At that price - instabuy!

Telika: It's hitman merged with commandos and made better than the sum of both.
I haven't played it yet but still *SLAP* for suggesting that it might be better than Hitman.

Looks mighty interesting. Definitely going to pick this up.
Great game, it's sad that it's not more popular and they haven't succeeded with the Kickstarter. Hope they'll be able to bring Death to Spies 3 somehow in the future anyway.

OK GOG, look, I do enjoy all kinds of weird shit, but one has to draw the line somewhere. Porn with a WW2 setting? I don't know man, I don't know... I think I'd rather pass on this one.

And the game is DRM free so you don't have to worry about any protection!

Thanks GOG! :D
I'm finding this to be a really good game. Really enjoying it.

It's also HARD - even on easy. I'm on the final mission; and throughout the entire game - if you want to play a "minimal casualties" way it is very difficult. After this easy-mode playthrough, I'm ready to try again - maybe on hard (now that I've got a feel for how it works).

Some random (non-spoiler) thoughts:

* Engine seems very stable. I leave it running for days (paused) and come sit and play on occasion. Has never crashed or caused a problem.

* Runs great in window mode. (but you will have a "ghost mouse cursor" outside the game that will occasionally highlight other things - like desktop icons, as the ghost cursor passes over them). Had me spooked at first - wondering if my PC was infected. But nope - just a ghost cursor.

* The "popup" context-menu can be infuriating, sometimes not popping up like it seems it should - usually when you have just a split-second to hope it's there and make your selection (the menu-actions don't have assignable hotkeys - you must use the menu). So, be careful!

* Wish there were more "silent knockout" (not kill) possibilities. But often the supply of what you need for that is very limited. In the end, You can still manage to play with minimal kills, but it's hard to get many of the knockouts - you need patience and hair-trigger timing sometimes.

* Allows unlimited saves.

* Unless you are going for "I don't care how many I kill - get in my way and you're dead" style, you can usually leave your two-handed firearms at home (you won't ever use them). On two missions was I glad I brought a muffled sniper rifle - although in both cases I couldn't use it for long.

* If you like playing "I won't kill unless I have to, and by that I mean REALLY have to" then you will also needs a ton of patience in order to pull off minimal kills and knockouts. It takes time to learn patrol patterns, and to sneak through the mix of hostiles and friendlies (which change-up depending on your current clothing).

* You may be changing uniforms more than once - even back into ones you previously needed. So it helps to leave them in easy-to-return-to locations (relatively speaking). Don't forget that who is friendly and who isn't may have changed on you!

* Try to pre-scout as much as you can, before starting to take action. You may find that "lone officer" way in the back, that you can more easily subdue to take his clothes. If you don't do that you may believe you have more limited opportunities than you actually do.

* Many of the levels are of fairly good size - leaving you with ample opportunities to choose how to proceed. Not all of them - but many of them.

I guess that's all for now. It's a very enjoyable game :)
