Sins of the father

D: The Game, a psychological horror adventure through dark family secrets, is available now for Windows, Mac, and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com.

The halls of a big Los Angeles hospital are riddled with dead bodies, the gruesome work of a mass murderer. Several other innocent people have been taken hostages by the madman, who has barricaded himself inside. When Laura Harris, a scholar in San Francisco, finds out, she rushes to the hospital to investigate. Why? The man responsible for the bloodbath is the well-respected supervisor of the hospital and also her father.
Time is not on Laura's side, however, as she only has two hours to navigate the shifting realities of the hospital, overcome the challenges in her path, and try to solve the most sinister puzzle of all: the reason why her quiet father turned into this bloodthirsty monster.

Explore a hospital drenched in blood and discover the dark forces that guide your father's killing hand in D: The Game, DRM-free on GOG.com.

catpower1980: Wah, those screenshots.... So exagerated that it looks more like a "retro" filter than what we had back in the days.

So, is there an option in-game to remove scanlines and interlacing???
There are no options in-game for anything. I tried tinkering with the DOSBOX config but I couldn't get rid of the interlacing.

Fairfox: Holy moly, this takes me back! Was there a video preview of this on an eeearly PSX demo disc? I swear I remember seeing some of those shots (teh woman in general, teh spiked skull, etc) in motion.
Not sure if there was a demo but I still might have the demo disc with trailer of D on it.
D: The Game? That can't be a good game, I would prefer A: The Game or atleast B+: The Game :)
I remember reading about this game a long time ago. Is it similar to Silent HIll?

Oh well, I guess I'll have to plug my computer to my old CRT television to play this game then. It would somehow makes an excuse for the graphics :o)

JudasIscariot: The French version of the game.

MaxFulvus: Really ? I though it was a porn joke ! Are you trying to save my innocence, Judas ?
Too late for that :P

I was going to post a joke about D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die being a sequel to D, but then I realized that D has two sequels, D2 and Enemy Zero, so... maybe D4 actually is a spiritual sequel/homage to these games?

D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die most definitely is not related to D or D2.

Also, thanks for the release, Night Dive and GOG! I heard about this game perviously on a LP video series and was interested in trying it out, but I'd need a guide to get past some of the more obtuse puzzles in the game (or rewatch the LP again before playing, due to the time limit).
Whoa! I was not expecting to ever see this. I still have fond memories of freshman year in high school when some friends came over and we pulled an all-nighter until we managed to beat this game. We played it on 3DO. Wow. 3DO. That's a memory haha. I think it took us until about 6am to complete the game, it's pretty brutal.
I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere that 3DO version is better than the PC version. Anyone know anything about this?

BananaJane: D2 is dreamcast only
Sadly.
But (I believe that) Night Dive would do something if interest was shown. I mean, after what they did with Turok (and soon Powerslave/Forsaken) and all... ;)

Well, all those other games had a PC version to build upon.
