When all your friends want you very dead.

Crawl, a couch co-op dungeon crawler where your friends are the monsters, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 20% launch discount.

Enter a randomly-generated dungeon full of threats, loot, and treasures. Take solace in knowing that your friends will come along. Shudder at the cruel machinations they have in store for you – for they are the enemy, a volley of monsters and dangers out to take you down. Crawl is best experienced with 2-4 players, but there's also plenty of fun to be had as you hone your skills against bots and throughout the game's many single-player challenges.

The launch discount will last until April 18, 8:00 AM CET.

Watch the trailer.

Breja: I think you meant "When a game looks like if all your friends got drunk and vomited all over your screen". I mean damn, even by the standards of all the pixelated "so retro" indie games this is remarkably ugly.

CharlesGrey: Come on, it's low-res, but it actually has a nice art style and great color choices. Remember that old fighting game we got last week? Now that one was fugly. :D

On topic, somehow it's almost sad to see it released after all this time. The "upcoming" list isn't the same without Crawl.

Hm, probably pointless as a single-player game, but looks like it could be really fun in multi-player mode.
It looks quite good especially animation, i love it.

It's playable with bots, but obviously not as fun as with real people in the same room.

I guess that only proves how subjective those things are. I can barely see anything worth calling an "art style" here and the brown, more brown and some brown-ish red, yellow-ish brown and green-ish brown-ish brown color palet seems especially horrible to me.

And you know, Pray for Death at least has the excuse of being from 1996. Not much of an excuse, I don't think it could have looked very well even then, but still.

i dig this games art style and it looks like a good bit of fun. the problem that i have is that pretty much all of my friends are non-gamers, so it'd be near impossible to get them to huddle around my laptop screen to play this. does it have a viable single player mode?
Oh, it's finally here. I think I will buy it soon™.
Wow, after teasing for so long, it finally came.
Look! Up in the sky!

Is that a bird? A plane?

Wait it looks like . . . a pig?

Maybe they can add Bloodstained Ritual of Whatever to the upcoming tab; that might kinda fill the hole, since it was announced to be coming here in June of 2015. Otherwise, we'll just have to wait for the System Shock reboot to marinate for another year or so. :)

single player mode (play with bots) is not really worth it.
woo, it's finally here :D
It's going to be weird as hell not to see it on the Upcoming list. It was there for... what, almost 3 years?

Anyway, game still looks cool. I'll definitely pick it up at some point.

I starteing playing computer games in the early 90's,so I don't mind retro graphics, but some of these games trying to have a retro look are just plain ugly, and would never have passed muster in the period they are trying..badly..to imitate.
