The definitive release.

Star Wars X-Wing and Star Wars TIE-Fighter just received a very special upgrade exclusively on GOG.com. Get them both now, up to 30% off in our Blaster Bundle.

Releasing Star Wars X-Wing and Star Wars TIE-Fighter on GOG.com, for the first time in digital distribution, was a big deal. Today, we're happy to finally make that release even bigger. Star Wars: X-Wing Collector's CD-ROM and Star Wars: Tie Fighter Collector's CD-ROM are here: widely considered to be the ultimate versions of the space combat simulator, these re-releases feature upgraded in-game graphics, rebalanced missions, new scenarios and cutscenes and new voiceovers. All that, combined with the signature MUSE sound system and a refined flight engine. Most importantly, it's the release you all wanted to see here the most.

The Collector's CD-ROM upgrade for Star Wars X-Wing and Star Wars TIE-Fighter is free for everyone who already owns the games, and becomes a permanent new part of the package - exclusively on GOG.com! The launch discounts will last until Thursday, May 7, 6:59 AM GMT.

tinyE: So I will be getting a note for this upgrade because I have nothing now. No rush, just curious if I need to activate something. :D
If you have the games in your account they are already updated :)

Elmofongo: So far nothing for me?
Grargar posted the solution already :) See his post above mine :)
avatar
zeffyr: Adding the info in 'goodies' section on games' cards would be helpful.
I already fixed one card :)

karnak1: Someone, please, enlighten me:
Are these now the versions I played many, many years ago, with iMuse music and the original menus (without the later edits by LA)?
Yep :)
avatar
BillyMaysFan59: Tfishell's gonna like this :)
He already knows :)
avatar
tinyE: I'm confused too. The graphics are identical to the other versions.
It's not the graphics but the sound :)
avatar
Grargar: Aren't the reviews old ones?
avatar
karnak1: You're right!!
I hadn't noticed the new addenda written by the GOG staff.
Stupid old me... Guess the Force isn't strong with me, anymore. :/

Thanks for warning me.
In any case I edited the old reviews just in case :)

NOTE: in case anyone's wondering, the original content of the reviews is still there but now with a GOG Staff comment at the top :)

JudasIscariot: It's not the graphics but the sound :)
avatar
tinyE: Ah ha! Thanks Judas!
I want to make it clear I wasn't complaining, just curious.
No probs :) Just letting you know as it's a wee bit difficult to show off the different sounds without illicit narcotics :P

Matruchus: Nice work gog. I do wonder when is the 95 version going to be dowloadable since its not available in the library?
Refresh your account, please :)
avatar
Laserschwert: To be fair, TIE Fighter (1995) now also offers a resolution of 640x480... so it's the graphics too ;-)
Your logic has no power here :P
avatar
zeffyr: Hm, I can't see it :)
avatar
Grargar: He did fix X-Wing.

"Includes STAR WARS™: X-Wing and all Tour of Duty expansions: Imperial Pursuit and B-Wing in all three versions: 1993 (DOS), 1994 (DOS CD), and 1998 (Windows) versions!"
And TIE Fighter and moved both of those points further up so there's no missing them :)
avatar
Paul31286: I assume that by "XvT Engine Windows releases" you mean the 1998 versions of "Star Wars: X-Wing" and "Star Wars: TIE Fighter"? So the 1998 versions have better graphics, but these "Collector's CD-ROM" versions have better music?

There was a more elaborated article comparing both the CD-ROM versions of TIE_Fighter but I can't seemt o find it right now.
Ehehehe :D

Both :)

mhp68: Hello, I've tried the refresh links posted, but the CD editions are not showing up under my library, only the original 2 I purchased previously?
I see them in your account. Try searching for all Star Wars games on your shelf, perhaps? :)

ATGardner: I currently do no see the x-wing special edition in my library, even though the game's page listed it as "owned". I only see the 1993 (19.8Mb) and 1998 (116.5Mb) editions.
Is this just a small glitch that will be corrected soon?
