Three new races stand against an ancient threat.

Revenge of Antares Race Pack, a new DLC for the massive 4X strategy game, offering three new playable races ready to stand against Antares, is now available for Windows and Mac, DRM-free on GOG.com.

No matter how much you expand your galactic empire, there are always going to be surprises lurking behind an unexplored corner. Like the aquatic Trilarian, who value peace above all else, but are prepared to stand their ground, when the situation calls for hostilities. Or the lucky Gnolams, who excel at trading and leading extravagant lives, steeped in luxury and intrigue. And what about the xenophobic Elerians, who offer a new gameplay perspective due to their persistence in preserving their cultural purity against the other races?

Master of Orion has also just received a free expansion featuring the enigmatic and war-thirsty Antarans. Players will have the option to recruit new leaders, while doing battle with these genetically engineered foes, whose existence is deeply rooted in the series' lore.

Meet three new alien races as you explore the Revenge of Antares Race Pack, DRM-free on GOG.com.
Master of Orion is now 50% off until December 11, 10:59 PM UTC.
Can you update the game without using Galaxy ?

I've installed the DLCs, the way I usually do, but none of them appear in the main game.
I haven't updated the main game but can't spot an update application among the game files.

Update: NEVERMIND. I re-installed the game and then the DLCs and everything works fine.

I updated the main game with Galaxy, d/ld the race file with Galaxy (also updated the Elerian dlc with Galaxy while I was afk, saw that it took 3gb) then manuall installed the other two from the download folder.

Having paid the full price at the end of beta, it is a shame that you have to pay for the missing races which were part of the older MOO games.
This will drastically lower my eagerness to buy anything which is not proven to be finished and part of the actual realease in the future.
Is it by design that the update that came out for this DLC release removed all my savegames? Not really a good motivator to buy the DLC in any case.

EDIT: Apparently its by design. Of course Galaxy, besides automatically updating games has no way to roll back a version easily. What a sad joke this is.
Disabeling the DLC pack in the update page does not fix it. Also just to rub it in it says Beta Channel: Off but at this point this looks more like an early access shitfest with the devs not deciding how to go about things and faling to communicate.

If you turn off auto updating you should be able to roll back to previous versions. Not sure it will recover the saves though, unless they have just become incompatible.

anothername: Maybe its my rose colored nostalgia but it feels like the Elerian are painted as even more warmongering than the Mrrshans; this with Grand Marshal instead of Empress feels... not right. Kind of. Not sure yet. And the good natured Trilians all being Cthulhu worshipers... oO
For me at least, a race of aquatic transdimensional enteties not worshipping the Elder Gods is kinda like Weird Al Yankovic voicing Darkseid - totally unexpected.

And yes, this happened.

...to think that younger me had problems with that strange new blocky cartoon style in Batman The Animated Series compared to hand painted or retroscoped works. *shudder* probably would have thrown some furniture into the TV if somebody had tried to sell me that as "serious" (can't be?) Justice League series. oO

erh... back to the Trilians. I did chuckled at first of course. Joke effect archived. But if they want a Cthulhu worshiping race there is no stopping them creating one; there is no need to alienate fans of a race establishes as peace seeking philosophers. Same with replacing the majestic Elerian Empire with a military junta.
Seems like another DLC abuse trick to me. They should've had the Antareans, Elerians, Gnolams and Trilarians all in situ from the very first. An extra £7.99 for what should have been there all along, it's just not right, not right at all.

Shouldn't the developers be fixing the bugs I've heard about instead of working on more and more DLCs.

You could almost think "Frontier Developments" and David "Robber" Braben have a hand in all this!

I agree. Compared to what they initially promised one might consider this a scam. I do.

I will NEVER ever pre-order again.
Considering this supposed to be MOO1 reimagined it only makes sense they made MOO2 elements and races not intended before based upon players requests, especially with Elerians.

If it was my development company, they'd not have hidden behind any such "excuses". They'd have been told to provide all that both classics Moo1 and Moo2 had to offer in one game. *NO* bollocks. No "lets just do MoO1 now" then before that is even polished and refined propely, shove "Moo2" upgrade for an extra ransom onto those mugs! This DLC rip-off is just dodgy companies extorting money out of us older games nostalgia. I'll once again quote "Frontier Developments / David Braben" and "Elite : Dangerous", "Horizons Seasons Pass" and the next 30 or so DLCs they'll release for £30 upward over the next 10 years. (And even then Elite : Dangerous" won't be *complete*)

It is WRONG..... simple as, and I'm amazed GOG let them host this robbery on their store. Let such scum developers stick to the unregulated anarchy of Steam for this kind of BS!

Teen Titans Go is a comedy series - it's most certainly not serious. Not a very good series mind you but it has its moments.

Its actually only the 3 player races that are the DLC. All new game mechanics like colony govs; ship leader; Antarans etc is part of the free update.

But considering the blind rage in your other post... Have ever considered to write a review for Galactic Civilizations 3? I'd *love* to read that :D

Having Weird Al on board do give them merit :D

Ok ,some has been in a free update - that's all well and good!

As for "blind rage", maybe you've spent too much time on Antares breathing it's Nitrous Oxide atmosphere? You really must be a sensistive flower to think that post a "blind rage". Or are you just saying it for trolldom's, or fanboidom's sake? Whatever, I could *really* show you the true meaning of "blind rage"..... but that would also mean sinking to your average troll's level. So no dice there matey!

As for GalCiv3 - yes that turd does deserves "blind rage". Plenty of that on Steam's review pages, if not also here on GOG, maybe one of them is mine under my Steam acc pseudonym..... and as for GalCiv3's excessive DLC policy, well, makes MoO seem quite kosha in comparison. Still they do all often come under a good sale simultaneously.

The undisputed kings of DLC though, Flight Sim X and DCS World on Steam..... Jesus. H. Christ. Full value of all DLCs comes to nearly £10k! Even with all those applied, they'd still be a pile of clart!

What's the obession with Wierd Al Yankovic around here about?

PS/ I may have been seeing things, but on the Steam version of this new MoO, I swear I saw that the three new races and the Antarean bits, were in FOUR SEPARATE DLCs also all £7.99 E.A.C.H..... ie £31.96 total. Now that *does* need a "blind rage" if I saw it right!

No, I actually honestly think this DLC/addon got on your bad side you you got honestly riled up about it without trolldom/fanboyish or other ulterior intentions; and that went in such strong worded faishon that I could hardly imagine it even gatting nastier which games which in comparishon far more worse DLC policys (Stardock would have sold each race separately, the antarans and the leaders also. OR would have sold all as a 25 bucks expansion pack). I really only wanted to read a review to that for pure sadistic entertainment to see how much more you would crank it up :D
