An isometric view racing game, inspired strongly by Death Rally and other old-school racing games – Barely Racing is now available on GOG.

You’ll race, shoot, place mines and blow your enemies out of the track. There are 7 cars (with color customization), 9 tracks (with reverse variant, across 3 biomes), machine guns, rockets, and mines, a split screen mode and a story mode, online multiplayer.

Check out all this racing fun, Barely Racing – out now!

This looks more faithful to the original Death Rally game than Remedy's own 3D remake was. Instabuy!
Glad this has come to gog. looks great fun
Many thanks to GOG. It's always nice to see more car games being released. ❤️

All that's left now is to release Death Rally and Destruction Derby ahah XD

Modern version of Bad Lands(1989).

Would be nice if it had real time visual damage, but it looks reasonable for the price.
So, you can play this game in multiplayer on the same computer or on a LAN without an internet connection?

These are the things some of us want to know.

EDIT:

Ok, I missed it originally: "Game is primarily made to be played in split screen, but there is a story mode too. "

Looks really cool, but does it support cross play with other platforms?
Oh wow, cute game and graphics looks nice and crisp too.

Reminds me of playing with Hot Wheels when I was a kid lol. Wishlisted.

Hi, game can be played in split screen and online. All multiplayer modes are available. I insisted on the "primarily with friends" because online mode is not using dedicated servers. They cost a lot... and I mean aaaaa lot. So I wanted to keep the game price as low as possible, but still allow online multiplayer.

Downside to this is that you depend on other player's computer, and it is so easy to cheat. This is tradeoff I had to take in order to keep the price as it is. When you play with your friend, you don't have to worry about that... or you have wrong people as gaming friends :D

Nope, we use Peer 2 peer session system for online play. And it is, as far as I know, platform specific.

Thanks for the reply. If you don't know already, GOG offers a Steam SDK wrapper which could be used to translate all the Steam SDK API calls to GOG Galaxy ones.

And you can also request to GOG staff to appear as a game dev here on the forums, like on Steam (but a little more disturbing with all orange text in my opinion)

Well, your decision not to pay for servers is a boon to me then, because I like to play at home with my wife and the occasional visiting friend, either on the same computer or different computers I have setup on my local LAN. Maybe with my daughter too in a few years if she's into gaming, we'll see.

Playing with strangers across the internet is no longer my cup of tea. Did that for a spell in my twenties, but I no longer have the time.

More racing games, lovely :) Thank you GOG. We can never have enough DRM-free racing games, especially the licenced ones :D Cheers
Remidns me a lot of minicar racing. And I mean A LOT.
And both my brothers and me wasted a literal shitton of time on that game back in the day. Ah, the memories.
