An isometric view racing game, inspired strongly by Death Rally and other old-school racing games – Barely Racing is now available on GOG.

You’ll race, shoot, place mines and blow your enemies out of the track. There are 7 cars (with color customization), 9 tracks (with reverse variant, across 3 biomes), machine guns, rockets, and mines, a split screen mode and a story mode, online multiplayer.

Check out all this racing fun, Barely Racing – out now!
Barley Racing!
It reminds me of Slicks N' Slides, actually.

Magnitus: So, you can play this game in multiplayer on the same computer or on a LAN without an internet connection?

These are the things some of us want to know.

EDIT:

Ok, I missed it originally: "Game is primarily made to be played in split screen, but there is a story mode too. "

OniBojan: Hi, game can be played in split screen and online. All multiplayer modes are available. I insisted on the "primarily with friends" because online mode is not using dedicated servers. They cost a lot... and I mean aaaaa lot. So I wanted to keep the game price as low as possible, but still allow online multiplayer.

Downside to this is that you depend on other player's computer, and it is so easy to cheat. This is tradeoff I had to take in order to keep the price as it is. When you play with your friend, you don't have to worry about that... or you have wrong people as gaming friends :D

pippo-san: Looks really cool, but does it support cross play with other platforms?

OniBojan: Nope, we use Peer 2 peer session system for online play. And it is, as far as I know, platform specific.
I know it wasn't intentional choice, but just wanted to say I'm happy you've made it, as I'm not a big fan of "tied to a service" multiplayer (at least not as only choice to play online with someone else) Just bought it on GOG, thanks for releasing it here :)

pippo-san: Thanks for the reply. If you don't know already, GOG offers a Steam SDK wrapper which could be used to translate all the Steam SDK API calls to GOG Galaxy ones.

And you can also request to GOG staff to appear as a game dev here on the forums, like on Steam (but a little more disturbing with all orange text in my opinion)
I know about this, but I think this would not allow cross platfrorm play. This is meant, as far as I understood, to save you from creating API calls for GOG. And just to reuse Steam calls. Fortunately, I am using Unreal Engine's Online Subsystem, and there were not many things I had to do manually. This is in beta, and I didn't want to risk it using, as there are really small amount of things I had to do manually.

Did anyone say this game was too easy? I couldn't win my first 2 races (playing on medium) but otherwise this game is 2pretty awesome and reminds me a lot of Death Really.

What's funny is that the game takes your friendlist and uses the names for your rivals. I've never seen that in other games so far :D

SCPM: This looks more faithful to the original Death Rally game than Remedy's own 3D remake was. Instabuy!
I knew it reminded me of something.

That's really nothing I would want to see as an automated process in any of my games.
But to each their own, I guess.
