Combo attack!

Absolver is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.

A tactical fighting game where every duel has its own story, Absolver lets you customize your style and engineer your own flow, building a Combat Deck from a wide range of weapons and attacks to tackle both PVE and PVP challenges.

Punch higher with the Deluxe Edition, which includes a 52-page artbook and the game's soundtrack.

NOTE: The game supports crossplay between GOG and Steam players.

Watch the trailer.

Uh having to use a client for multiplayer infrastructure has nothing to do wtih Digital Rights Management.

Just saying.

Either stop throwing tantrums or go and implement multiplayer for all those games.

Good luck with that. :P

Fortuk: They're recommending a controller and it doesn't look like keyboard controls can be reconfigured.
Well now that's a bummer.

If you release on PC you HAVE to implement control rebinding, or don't even bother releasing on PC.

That's just bad practice.

Actually you can rebind the keys, at least most of them.
Except for Q, E, Z, and C which, I think are hardcoded.
Autohotkey is your friend though.

Enjoying it quite a bit so far, especially the difficulty. So refreshing to have another game where multiple opponents can gang up on you -simultaneously- and not wait politely like in a queue until it's their turn.

I think it's fair to call Absolver a Melee-focused Dark Souls. Same resting mechanic, same way of progress (punching and kicking your way through regular "mobs" of varying difficulty until facing off against a "boss"), etc.

Prian: ...
You're late to the party, this has been in place for years. The general consensus seems to be that GOG only applies "DRM-free" to single-player.
Furi is still missing its DLC here. Any chance of that changing?
So the only reason to release FURI here was to add it for free to the Absolver pre-purchase, right? This explain why no one bothered to add DLC and soundtrack to FURI offer

Prian: Xactly, but additionally i enjoy reading this immense shit coming outta your fingers. I for myself dont care about DRM, too. But i dont take it as normal to be messed around with. DRM free platform - my middle finger.
Steam is the only one to go to now - they never made hollow promises about customer - care. Or OneWorldOnePrice. Or DRM. Or RegionLock. Or. Or. Or.
So please, rep me down, but dont answer. I cant stand your "opinion", kid.
I'm afraid I'm going to answer anyway, not for your benefit since you're clearly a lost cause more interested in whining than thinking, but for the principle of the thing.

All I read from you is "waaagh, I'm mad because GOG had to change their business model to keep making money!". Guess what, their original business model simply wasn't sustainable long-term because sooner or later you run out of old games you can legally sell. And since a store needs to be able to sell new games every so often, you then need to do *something* to attract either indie devs or big game companies and convince them to sell games on GOG.
And if the choice is between having regionally-priced games, or a client for multiplayer games, and GOG simply going bankrupt, I'll pick the first option, even though I don't really like it.

But apparently, you're too immature to look beyond your rage at the changes and thing about why they changed things. Or maybe you're even more childish and you'd prefer to have GOG gone rather it becoming something a bit different than what you'd like it to be. That makes it really ironic when you call other people kids, you know...

And if you really hate the changes so much, please feel free to leave and go use Steam, I can prety much guarantee nobody will miss you here.
Ok, I played the game around 12 hours and these are my opinions.

There is content locked behind online. So I don't think this game is DRM-free.

If you rush you can complete the Story in 3 hours. A casual player can complete it in 6 hours.

In offline mode you can only learn only 1 addionational style(Stagger) You can't learn Khalt, Windfall or Forsaken Style these are locked behind Online you can learn these three styles from high level players you need to join their school.

After you cleared the main story what's left to do is learning new moves or killing the bosses again there is 3 main boss, 6 sub-boss and 1 hidden boss. You can rekill 6 sub boss and 1 hidden boss but you can't kill 3 main bosses again because in order to kill their higher level(it's like ng+) variants you need to do Combat Trials(PVP), so progress is locked behind online there is not much thing to do after completing the story.

Are you sure that there's no other way to unlock that content? Having it locked behind PvP sounds like a big oversight. Dark Souls made all the content available through exploration and then allowed you to get it at an earlier point through PvP, so I was assuming this game had something similar.

Yes there is no other way.
For example, Kuretz is the one of the main bosses in order to kill it again you need to reach Combat Trials level 10.

Thank you, those paint a very clear picture. :) This is rather disappointing though. Having a short storylength isn't a problem if I can have fun doing more challenging encounters, so locking that part behind multiplayer baffles me. I'm to going to wait and see if this gets patched out or someone produces a mod to fix this.

How come negative/critical comments always seem to get a "low rating"?

Guess I have my answer now.

That's really bad design actually :S
So, GOG's second DRM catastrophe in a week after Gwent.

I have it on good authority from someone who has played it on PS4 that the "offline" component is little more than a tutorial that is completed within two hours at a leisurely pace.

I don't mind the use of the Galaxy API in general for relevant features, but disguising DRM in this manner is just unacceptable. I was going to buy Ys Seven and the missing Ys games but I think I'll just wait until this game is removed from the site before I buy anything else from GOG now.
It has been in the list for quite a while since it was made clear from the start that most content is locked behind Galaxy.
