supplementscene: Want or allocate? No GPUs have been hit in benchmarks by having 8gb below 4k and I'm not even sure if they've been hit at 4k yet. It will happen eventually though. And the comparison I suppose would be 1080ti vs 3060ti @4k gaming.

StingingVelvet: Look up Doom Eternal benchmarks. At the highest texture setting it absolutely is hit by VRAM limits. Pretty sure Watch Dogs Legion is another but don't quote me on that one.
The 1% low is still better on an 8gb 3070 over a 11gb 1080ti. The 1080ti is beating the 2080 Super in that title. But I don't think the 1080ti good performance is due to larger VRAM. Even the 6gb 2060 has 52FPS as a 1% low at 4k max settings, which beats the 8gb 1070. So I don't think 6gb let alone 8gb is responsible for frame drops @4k

All the 2080/3080 8gb cards beat the 1080ti in Watch Dogs Legion @4k
