I believe downloading the new install and installing it as admin is what we've been suggesting to folks recently.

There's a sticky here concerning Galaxy if you would like to follow up there.

Did you recently change or update your antivirus/firewall software? I had the same problem recently and was finally able to resolve it by following these instructions from GOG Support:

Please make sure that your anti-virus/firewall software is not blocking the Galaxy Client, some Users reported that having the "Scan secure connection" enabled in their security software was causing this issue, this option can also be called scan SSL/TLS connections.

Even though I had not knowingly changed any network/firewall settings, this did turn out to be the cause.

There seems to be some kind of problem with the update service right now... it may just be down. GOG hasn't updated the download page yet but I believe you can find the latest version here:

https://cdn.gog.com/open/galaxy/client/setup_galaxy_1.2.29.28.exe

Just in case anyone needs it.

I looked at some logs and saw some interesting entries:

2017-11-20 15:39:04.798 [Information][ (0)]: Downloaded JSON https://cfg.gog.com/desktop-galaxy-updater/4/master/files-windows.json
2017-11-20 15:39:04.798 [Error][ (0)]: Error encountered while parsing files JSON; last successfully parsed entry: "". Exception: Syntax error (JSON syntax error), code(0)
2017-11-20 15:39:04.798 [Error][ (0)]: JSON string for which parsing failed: "‹"

If you go download that JSON file manually it looks just fine. I think that 1.2.29.28 has some issue with understanding server data I'm also getting dropped immediately after connecting). I'm going to try rolling back to an older version.

Update: Rolling back to 1.2.16.67 did not fix the issue. Would debug in Fiddler if I knew how to force GOG Galaxy to use a proxy.

My French is horrible, even after 5 years of classes. Please excuse me for the English posting:

In case you missed it, the developers appears to have released a fix and folks are reporting the problem was resolved:

Hope this helps.
