drealmer7: omg, dude, get your brain checked [...]
OMG! someone on the interwebs have a different opinion than me. QUICK - lets insult them!

I did not even bother reading the rest of you post. If this is the level you want to keep it on, I'm just going to ignore you. Which would be a shame, as you have had many decent posts in the past.

again, case in point right here
it's not about you having a differenet opinion, that you think it is just verifies there's something wrong with how your brain functions, how about rather than get defensive about it, check yourself, ask yourself "why would this guy say this?" - it's not because you have a different opinion and it isn't meant to put you down, it's meant to try and wake you the F up and get you to reflect/think better

read the rest of my post, maybe something will click finally

I am really intrigued by the game. The look is similar to the cel shaded style of Borderlands. It has Gameplay mechanics from games like Styx and Assasin Creed. But The Angled View Perspective means it will also play a lot more like Brothers: A Story Of Two Sons or Lara Croft And The Guardian Of Light. Seems like Winner. Wishlisted for now.

joppo: BTW, as I suppose is clear from my post, the motivation for my dislike of preorder exclusives is definitely not envy, which was the core of your examples above.
avatar
amok: no, actually, the core is not envy
This statement is false. Your examples were "If a neighbor builds... is mine incomplete? If you get ... is my film incomplete? If you get... is my car incomplete? if you get... and I do not, is my holiday incomplete?" Those were direct comparisons between one's and a third party's experiences and they all rely on the assumption that one will feel envious of what the other person got. Meanwhile I'm showing you that for several people one's sense of incompleteness comes from the comparison between what is a version with all assets, and the one I'm allowed to buy because the publisher is oh so generous to grant me the possibility of giving them my money, blessed be their game.

Nope, sorry. I just don't like the idea of supporting someone that is willing to be a dick to me and that is exactly what I see from someone locking content away from me forever for no reason.

And arguably, the artificial unavailability argument can be extended to physical goods also. For example, there is a limited special edition of Watchmen, printed in only 1000 copies which contains additional commentaries by Moore and Gibson. There is no reason why there are only 1000 copies, there could just as likely have been 100.000. However, does this make my blog standard, yet complete, edition less complete, due its existence? Does it mean I can no longer enjoy reading it?
Your argument has already been addressed above. And I quote myself: " I can understand companies not selling the physical product after preorder ended "— there are the costs of production, transport and storage to consider —" but there's no excuse for this shit we gamers face again and again." Besides, your argument is flawed in the differences between physical and digital once again. As long as I'm willing to pay a heftier price later I have at least the possibility of getting one of those copies on ebay. How do you get a digital download game's preorder content years down the road?

It's bad enough that government often decides for us whether we should be allowed to enjoy a particular game, as our german and australian friends can tell. Don't defend a publisher thinking he has the right to decide how much enjoyment I'm allowed to take from game assets that have already been made and that I'm even willing to pay for. "Nope, sorry, you weren't part of the select group that was around before launch and had money to gamble in the hope that our game turned out good. Do you know the secret handshake? Yeah I thought so, forget it pleb, we don't tend to commoners pleas"

I was immediately sold by the trailer music (Miracle Of Sound and Marcin Przybyłowicz, love them both)
Pre-ordered.

And the hunting feature and the stories on the website convinced me that this decision was good. :) Can't wait for the release.

Kakarot96: Also, it's not just a "bonus scene", but a feature that let's you play the movie on your video much better than mine, that plays with less FPS and feels clunky compared with yours...
avatar
amok: That analogy does not quite work, as you are implying that the bonus content somehow makes the engine better, so that to compare the DVD bonus content should somehow improve your framerate, remove stutter, create a better booming bass, make it spin faster or have better color resolution, which is off course not the case.

A better comparison would be to say that the bonus content on the special limited edition DVD have some cut scenes containing some more character exposition, which had been cut to improve the pacing of the film. Yes, the one with the bonus content will have more background info, but arguably the film is better in the original version as the pacing is better and more coherent.
Well, it was just a joke more or less giving what the pre-order bonus offers in your char's speed when wearing those armors. So speed of reproduction is still valid, imho. But as i said, just a joke! :D
