jcdenton2k: Maybe if Valve starts treating their employees as poorly as CDPR does then I may change my mind.

Damn. Now you created a moral problem, he won't be able to play many games anymore.

jcdenton2k: I absolutely do have the right to speak my thoughts and opinions (especially opinions about a major multi-billion-profiting corporate entity) since corporations aren't people and don't have feelings.
Non descript "multi-billion-profiting corporate entities" don't have feelings but apparently banks - which we all know work exclusively pro-bono and are disgusted at the mere suggestion of profit - do have feelings which explains in full your unwillingness to make further inquiries and, god forbid, press your bank for proper customer service seeing how the inferior service they're providing you with effectively places you at a disadvantage when compared with the service that countless other folks in the US seem to have no trouble getting from their banks.

Best of luck.
GOG could use the same gift card company in the US as does Steam. Print on the card, the up front purchase price for the service and a many year long problem is solved in a sound decision.

I'd gladly pay $10-12 for the card itself and GOG wouldn't even have to eat that cost, as I just payed for it when I buy a physical gift card from Walmart or BestBuy or wherever.

Use the same intermediary service, I think its called FastCard. I'm sure if GOG execs cared, they would be able to learn about this. Doing more business makes more sense to stay afloat financially, but what do I know. I'm just some words in a forum they don't care about.

neumi5694: If you decline to use working mechanisms ... that's not their fault as well and actually yours. Then again, if paypal is linked to your bank account, it might not work anyway
PayPal can not be used without giving them a mobile phone number, not everyone would be OK with that.
Even if I were OK with that (I am not), I do not even own a mobile phone so I am barred from using their service in the first place!

How do you use secure authentification (one time password, visa 3d secure, whatever) for your credit card? Email? Or don't you use that at all?

But it's good that GOG offers 7 different ways of paying (at least to me), so there are alternatives.

I have had accounts in two banks lately. One use my "landline" phone for strong authentication, the other one some dedicated device. But the main security in my daily use is that my real card number can not be used to buy things online, instead I generate unique numbers with a limited amount linked to them for each payment.

I would rather have the option to use e-mail for strong authentication (I use a self-hosted e-mail server, on a computer that is physically at home), but no bank I have contacted in the last couple years is still proposing such an option.

When you use requests blocking extensions in your Web browser it is a very nice perk, because it means you can retry a failed payment with no risk to end up charged twice ;)
PayPal since they opened and thousands of transactions on the book and never once have I had an issue. They have helped me in many disputes and saved me time and money dealing with fraudsters in the past.
