For those missing the downloader links, my script has already sorted that one.
I am working on alternative library styles, options for games per page and manual sorting but they may take a little more time.
Some more opinions on styles and testing would be appreciated.. :)

You're certainly not alone.
I know that when they first changed the library design a lot of people had issues with it. Some even refused to use the service at all anymore (which is a little extreme imo).

Personally I much preferred the style of the original library, and would be happy if they brought it back, or added a skin to emulate it as much as possible. I think it felt a lot more friendly and personal that way and at the time the change took place I remember being quite upset with it. But with that being said, I mainly went to the library to download my games, so I don't really go there any less.

As FoxbodyMustang said though, the thing I hate most is the way the GOG downloader links were handled.

Yes, it is shit in comparison to how it used to be. Before before, you could even put SPACE between your games while self-organizing. The lack of these features ((being able to arrange in whatever order you want AND put space between them) is utterly S-T-U-P-I-D. They are MY games on MY shelf I want to arrange them MY way. What is so fucking hard about programming that, anyway, GOG? Are you just lazy and uncaring (I'll take that as a yes.) I'm an organizational freak and what they did still really pisses me off (when I allow myself to think about it.) *seething*

I have thousands of movies (dvds, data-discs, and on HDs), almost 1000 books, and a couple hundred games, and it is the games that are the most egregiously organized to me. I HATE IT!!!

It would be nice to have old features like manual sorting and game boxes back as options, but I think the new library is much better than the old one.

I tried it the other day but I just can't get rid of the wood theme. It has actual color! T^T

Maybe this has already been posted but:
By using the new custom tags
-you can now effectively arrange 50 games however you want.
-you can now arrange 50 batches of unlimited games however you want.

Since these tags are implemented, I find the changes all in all to be better:
the update notifications are great
the change log is essential
it's nice that now all banners are of the same quality

Color, yes, but I just think the glass theme "fits in" better with the all-white background than the wood shelves. Pretty much a matter of adapting; of rolling with the changes.

I mean, wouldn't the wood shelves look better if they came with a wood background? :P

I don't doubt some people here do collect the actual thing, but all you're collecting here is digital files, and those VIRTUAL box arts on your VIRTUAL shelf were just pictures. Nothing more than novelty.

I agree about the old style, being able to see them as an object on a shelf was a nice and different touch from all the other gaming sites. Although I usually used list to quickly find a title, having that nice shelf mode was fun when looking at my games as a collection.

I do use extensive tags, but that is more clumsy than a visual representation of sorting them grouped to whatever obscure way I desired. The tag function is clumsy, often I lose the pull out screen and have to reclick the tag option numerous times in order to safely select the specific tag I need. The tags are not even displayed when in Grid mode, so you are left with list mode in order to see at a glance whether a title is 1st, 3rd etc in a series. Any action you do also boots you out of your place in your list to starting page which is beyond annoying.

I dunno, I live with Galaxy, the change didnt affect me as much as others but I would have thought they would have put in more features by this time. Right now the only time I boot galaxy is to install games

I would honestly prefer the old style of the wooden shelf background and the full sized box pictures.

It gave me a more nostalgic feel of older games, which is one of the reasons why I joined GoG in the first place, for the older games.

But I suppose it's not that big a deal.
