so what kind of framework are they using for the crossplatform MP?

Its been a while since the update. Has anyone who owns this game on GOG successfully played cross play with steam? How is it done?

Start the game through Galaxy, pause the game, and make sure you don't have a single player session by pressing C and selecting the desired multiplayer option.

Select the "Matching" section and then "Search Matches." You will find the list of active players online, which are almost always Steam players. If you search for a friend who is currently playing you should find them in this list. There is also an option to log in with an Epic account, but I have never used it.
