darthspudius: When was Doom ever like Call of Duty??? Iv played so many different Doom games and not one comes even close to CoD.
You never saw the footage of the original Doom 4? The one we're seeing now is a whole different game started from scratch after the original (call of doomy) was canned.

I'll see if I can find the video...

Here.

I remember one that looked more like Quake 4 and Doom 3...

Edit: Yeah now see that looks nothing like CoD to me haha.

I've linked to the video I was talking about in that post. It's basically CoD with some vague demonic / alien shit going on.

It looks a hell of a lot more CoD-ish than Doom-ish.

This was essentially Doom 3, Quake 2 and 4... on earth. If anything it had more similarity to Crysis.

The thing it was probably most like was Quake Wars. If it was meant to be a single player Quake Wars then that might have worked. But when it comes to Doom, what they've got now looks so much more the part than the cancelled game ever did.

I never played Quake Wards, what is it? I am never one to diss a game just because it is different. If it is good, I couldn't care haha.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (to give it it's full name) was a 2007 multiplayer game produced by a third party developer using what was then id's best ever engine. I think it was the first id engine game to use megatextures.

It was a class based FPS, Strogg VS Humans focusing on the events that provoked the human retaliation in Quake 2 & 4. There were a variety of vehicles and each map had its own campaign of sorts where one side was attacking and trying to achieve their objectives and the other side was trying to stop them as long as possible.

Sounds pretty bland if im honest haha. Was it any good?

You needed a good team for it to be any good. Otherwise it was just a constant rush to the objective to keep chipping away at it. That was it's main feature in a way. But it was also its biggest flaw. It doesn't matter how good the individual elements are if you don't have a team worth a damn.

It could be good. But yeah, it did get very bland.

I hate that flaw in those kind of games. People just can't play as a team, god knows why.
"It also includes a set of six Hack Modules — one-time consumable items that can give you an edge in a multiplayer match."

Remember those single use "Easy Fatality" tokens, in the new Mortal Kombat, which you could purchase for real money? Somehow I suspect this "feature" could be headed for a similar direction.

The game itself looks mildly interesting, but in between the DRM and possible "in-app purchases" and other questionable business decisions, I think I'll have to pass.

Most of the time people are playing with strangers and in all honesty, you can't trust them to do anything. At all.

I think that the only way a game like that could work is if there were some mandatory bots in every match that performed the functions that nobody else was about to do. Then all everyone else would have to do is pretend like they're helping.

sasuke12: The only problem is that you need a beast for a pc to run this game.

The CPU and GPU requirements are too high for this game.

darthspudius: I haven't seen them yet. Got a link?
A few months ago I saw the IGN E3 reveal video which was an hour long. In it, one of the Bethesda guys being interviewed talked about the high specs needed for the game.

I can't find the link though.
