Huh. There was a fan-led Myst movie project which had Cyan's blessing, got to the "talks with movie studios" stage, and ended in quite sad drama. I suppose this is what came out of it in the end.
The bits about Tony and Rand thinking about retirement bummed me out at the time, hopefully Obduction and this series will be their "second youth", not their swan song.

Jennifer: Yeah, I guess. What would hold it back though? Ubisoft and Cyan not agreeing on how to split the profits from selling the game? I can't think of any other reason they wouldn't throw the games up there and see what extra money they can get from it.
Any game that has its rights split up between companies will always have a hard time getting a rerelease. Maybe the extra money they could get from a rerelease isn't worth all the hassle/headaches. Who knows, the rights business is a messy one.
This is the one popular and successful game where I never understood it's appeal. For me Myst is and always was plain boring. Why someone would want to make a TV-series from it is beyond me. A screensaver, yes, that I would understand. Or some art installation. But not a TV-show.

Grargar: It doesn't really matter if Ubisoft is here. The games aren't even on Steam, so more than likely, neither of the two parties find it worthwhile to come to an agreement.

In the infinitely logical thought pattern of publishers, they often prefer to not get any money at all for a product (not releasing it) than having to split profits with someone else.

If this somehow is an adaptation of Book of Ti'ana, I'm definitely interested.

If they try an adaptation it'll be a disaster, but the lore and backstory are excellent, so going into the events of the novels could make a very good show.

Or maybe they'll 'adapt' the intended story of the long-delayed fourth novel, The Book of Marrim.

Tv series and a game tie-in. I don't know what to think about. If done properly, it could be a good thing.
Just think "Yay(!)"

The bottom of the barrel has been scraped so hard now they have dug through to China, knock-off television.

Other news.
aw man, on hulu? ugh, I don't mind having to watch commercials, but they always play the same three over and over again.
