greeklover: Pony Island is one of those games that you either find brilliant or annoying. You are trapped inside an arcade game and you need to escape but you can't even start the game because someone sabotages you. The music reminds arcade games from the 80s, when you win it's fun, when you lose it gets on your nerves. To play this game you need skills. A significant part of the game involves mini platformer games where a pony jumps, uses wings and shoots stuff with laser. You need good coordination skills to get past these or else you get stuck and can't proceed with the game. You also need some minor programming skills. As you can see in the pics, there are these lines with code and you have to put things in order so that you get the last line needed to unlock something. And it's not as simple as putting arrows in the correct squares. Sometimes you have to do loops, and other times, as the program executes itself, you have to change the contents of the squares at the right moment. In the second phase of the game, these puzzles are replaced by butterflies that travel like the code loops but the logic is similar. The platformer also get more difficult because you have to shoot butterflies but avoid some other things. Apart from these, the game is straightforward, you can only do one thing to advance the action and even if you don't have any hints, you can use trial and error. But you need to be careful because the screen is dark and you might miss a point or portal at the edge. There is only one save because you don't have to save in case you make a mistake. You can quit the game and the next time you open it you can continue your previous game or delete save data and start a new one. During the game you can get info on who you are and how you ended there but that doesn't add much to the plot. An interesting part is the desktop where you click on files to execute them, I found the messenger funny. The game can be completed in 2-3 hours. There is a boss battle that reminds me of the final battle in Juju Densetsu (Toki), where the monkey fights a big demon or something.

There is also a secret ending in the game. There are tickets scaterred around in the game and you can collect them. To activate the secret ending, you have to get all 24 tickets. It's practically impossible to get them all by wild guessing, so you can use a guide/walkthrough. The secret ending is another boss battle with 3 phases. You need patience and excellent platformer arcade skills to win these battles, there are videos on youtube if you want to see what happens.

Thanks for the great review greeklover ! I read it twice and enjoyed it. It made me watch a gameplay of Pony Island.

Indeed, the dekstop part where you click on files really does make the game interesting and unique. And the game definitely requires some skills and attention, as said in your review.

I must say I somewhat enjoyed the game, just by reading your review. You really put some time into the game and into reviewing it, including the provided screenshots, that can help, those who might be interested.

Your task is completed! I hope that you enjoy the other game too. And I hope to see some other content from you, even if its not related to this giveaway :)

Happy Holidays !

babark: Thank you for your gift! The stories appear to be short stories (or at least each "book" is capable of being finished in an hour or so, so...short?), and I've finished one, so I figured I'd talk about it?
I read "Destroyer of Worlds" last night, and when I started it out, it was quite an interesting concept, that filled my mind with all the possible amazing potential.
Unfortunately, the pay-off was a bit...underwhelming. It went a bit of a boring route.

I'd go into greater detail, but I take it that you have the same bundle for yourself, and I don't want to spoil anything. Thanks again, brake! On your recommendation, I'll tackle The Girls Guide to the Apocalypse next, I think.
No worries mate. Feel free to give your own, without worrying about me. I will read the book anyways and make my own opinion, I guess.
I was also curious about the Cathedral of Dreams. So that might be the first one for me to read.

I like a good mystery too. [...]
Accepted, cheers.
Ultima VII

I´ve heard and read alot about this game
"Its one of the best RPG"; "Best Ultima ever"; "Superb RPG but did not age well"

So i was a bit curious and was happy when i got the Game from brake_id

The first thing i did after downloading and starting the game on PC was to install it on my Android-Phone.
It is way more comfortable for the eye on a smaller screen.

The game starts with a really loveley "cutscene" with a kind of humour that i really like.
And after "Start New Game" you get to choose if you want to be a male or female (So it is not PC today ;-) )
and then your character spawns right into the starting town of the game.
Your task is to get information on some incident (i don´t want to write whats going on exactly - don´t want to spoil it), so you are supposed to go around the town and talkt to the NPCs.
And this is really well done. Although you have to read everything you can really see that every NPCs "talks" different etc... They can get annoyed by some dialogue options you can choose or give you valuable information - which you have to remember! No autojourny or quest marker on the map. Which i think is also a really nice thing and some new kind of experience for me - this kind of immersion.

So i was going around the town, enjoying the art of graphics talking to people, feeding the member of my cohesive unit - spent all my found gold lol; I got poisoned by fountain water. I just wanted to see what happens when you use water on you character.

After i got all important information on that incident i went to the mayor and he asked me for some coordinates.
I thought he means coordinates from the ingame map. After looking on the Atlas-Book on his desk and the clothmap in the inventory i had to ask google - and so i learned that this is the copy protection!
Again - something new for me.
So i could progress to the area outside the town. I left through the wrong townsgate and a friendly narrator voice reminded be that it is the wrong way :-D

On the way to the next town i met a playhouse group and then i was already in the next town talking to people and getting even more information, helping some guy out with his crush.

And thats how far i got. I will definitively play this game very slow paced, since there are a lot of details to catch.
I´ve read that the inventory system is really... well... meh?! But i like it. It is a very nice idea that you have to drag and drop you item-sprites in this tiny bag.
The graphicdesign is also very good according to my taste although i had to get used to the perspective.

All in all i think it is a game in which you clearly see that it is made by people who love what they are doing. I is not holding you by the hand with silly markers all over the screen or strange restrictions.
I am looking forward to what is awaiting me ingame while playing on evenings or in the train on the way to work (about 2h time is enought eh?!)

BTW; if anyone is interested - you can play thins perfectly fine on MagicDosBox for android, even with a bluetooth controller. It is really fun and works!! =]
Review of Ronin-

A turn-based stealth action game, where you get detected by the enemy anyway 100% of the time.
There is not much of plot or character development and you only get text on the screen about what your mission is about and what you are expected to do in each mission.
You will quickly learn that darkness is your best friend, and light is your worst enemy.

This is a game for slow and steady, not fast and impulsive as your actions on each and every level have to be planned out beforehand like playing a chess game. It can be finished in six hours or less.

It does indeed deviate from the game “Mark of the Ninja”, since that game is more keyboard and controller based stealth action game.

However, both games give the same good feeling of being a ninja.

The difficulty spikes up during the second half of the game as there are more enemies on each level and less hiding spots. You get detected more frequently. One one stage, the enemy has already anticipated that you will infiltrate their house to kill them so they have themselves well guarded.

I would not say that this is one of the best ninja based game ever made but it definitely is worth checking out if you are a fan of ninjas and stealth action games.

I did not come across bugs or glitches during the gameplay. The playthrough was fluid and enjoyable.

I would give this game 8/10.

Thanks for the review UterusMaximus !

I appreciate and enjoyed it. It made me more curious about the Ultima games. Maybe one day I will have time to play them myself ( whenever I finish the bunch of games I already have ).

You are right - the game has a bit of a strange perspective, but I assume, that once you get used ot it it won't bother the eye that much.

I never played the Ultima games myself ( though I have watched a gameplay ) but I really enjoy games, that have a lot of thought put into making them. And I like a good story, no matter the genre.

I am glad, that you are enjoying the game. Have fun with your journey in game and on your way to work :)

Thanks for your review doctorsinister ! I really appreciate it !

I am not the biggest fan of the genres ( turn based, platform and stealth at once is a bit overwhelming combination for me ) that are combined within the game, but I can see this game's appeal ( from your review and from a gameplay I've watched ).

Hope that you will be having fun with the other games too.

Just giving this a bump.
I wanted to update and add more games and other stuff to this trade, but I am still waiting for at least half of the people here to fulfil their part of the agreement.

So I am posting here to remind everyone, before I message you individually.

There was enough time.

PMPMGamer: Not in but thanks for the giveaway!

Thanks mate !

Though I haven't added anything new since I started the giceaway.

I had some new games but I decided to hold them, since some of the people, who came and agree to my terms for the giveaway did not fulfill the part they were required to do ( which part seems to be taking them more than half a year)

So here we are half a year later, waiting.

I appreciate the people, that fulfilled what they were asked to do. But I will not add new stuff, because others didn't.
not in

edit: just realsied this thread is 3 years old lmfao
