The Mold has plans for you, kid!

Motivational Growth, a little sick-to-the-head, but nonetheless inspiring movie arguing the real importance of getting "out there" before you get too mold, is available 33% off on GOG.com. That's $3.99 for the first 48 hours!

Ian Folivor, a depressed and reclusive 30-something, finds himself taking advice from a growth in his bathroom after a failed suicide attempt. The Mold, a smooth talking fungus who was born of the filth collecting in a corner of Ian's neglected bathroom, works to win Ian's trust by helping him clean himself up and remodel his lifestyle. With The Mold's help, Ian attracts the attention of a neighbor he's been ogling through his peephole, Leah, and he manages to find a slice of happiness despite his unnatural circumstances. But Ian starts to receive strange messages from his old and broken down TV set that make him realize that The Mold may not be as helpful as it seems to be, and strange characters combined with stranger events cast Ian's life in the shadow of an epic battle between good and evil that Ian is only partially aware of.

Starring absolutely no Oscar nominees whatsoever, the Devolver Digital presentation, Motivational Growth, can be yours for only $3.99. The 33% discount offer lasts until Sunday, October 26, at 9:59AM GMT.

That trailer was just weird. Part of me is curious as hell, and part of me thinks "eeeewwwwwww"
Watched the trailer a while ago and absolutely loved it.

A must-buy for me!

I have to say it's a weird movie but at least the story is not one of those "2deep4u" stories :) I watched the movie and I experienced a lot of cringe moments but it was a nice weekend watch for me :)
Might not be my type of movie, though sounds weirdly interesting... but glad to see GOG be able to expand past gaming related movies and shows. :)

I'm not a huge fan of things that make me cringe / go ewww.

The trailer reminded me of the last film that made me feel like that: Peter Jackson's "Meet the Feebles". I saw the trailer in 95-96 attached to some video or other, was intrigued and decided to give it a try. I had to switch it off within the first half-hour as myself & the friends I was watching it with were so revulsed by it (I was about 19-20 at the time)

Edit -- Seems the whole of "Meet the Feebles" is on YouTube for those curious.

More Lynchian than wacky :)

Tempting :)
Really, it's a bit of both. But if Lynchian is something you like, it's there.

I saw what was probably a fairly early cut of Motivational Growth at the 24-Hour Science Fiction Film Marathon in Boston a couple of years ago, and it was one of the most divisive films ever shown during the 40-year history of the 'Thon. (It joins Olivier Assayas's demonlover in that category.) Part of the problem was surely that it screened at 4 a.m., when we were all pretty punchy and really not prepared for what we were about to see; part is that it's a simply insane film.

There are lots of ewww moments, but they're mostly complicit, by which I mean that you'll ewww along with some joy - there's not much that's truly revolting, but there is yuk. There is also plenty that's truly provocative, both in a thoughtful way and in an "oh come on" way. It's a movie that constantly reminds you that you're watching it, and challenges you to believe along as things get increasingly ludicrous. It's fashionable these days for films to lull the audience into a sort of accepting dream state - you watch, you nod, you accept what is given without thinking about it too closely. This one doesn't do that. It's very in-your-face. It's weird; it's interesting.
A film with Jeffrey Combs (from Re-Animator fame) is always welcome, even if he just plays as a "mold" :)
Jeffrey Combs? I only know him from the "Star Trek" franchise as a regular guest star :)

Dude, i was just out to buy it. My first movie on GOG, just because of Jeffrey. But that sexual healing part convinced me more than Jeff.... ;)
Aah,...finally...it turns up (again).
