So it's pretty clear that MAHAYO - "Make a human answer you" wasn't effective or the solution to the relentless troll/scammer attacks many of us have experienced over the past couple of years. Those of us that have spoken out have been subject to relentless abusive tactics - hitting -5 rep or more on daily basis might not feel like abuse to those that could care less about rep BUT it's abuse no matter how you slice or dice it.

Recently many alt/ duplicate accounts have made a point to highlight how this abuse works to drive/silence/alienate forum members. Meanwhile GOG does exactly nothing/zero/zip/zilch....

So GOG, wtf are you going to do? Nothing again? Gee, what else is new? You asked what we wanted and then ignored us....

SO personally as I've communicated in my e-mails to support, I have not bought anything on GOG (except for a Secret Santa gift) in well over a year. If we want GOG to listen to us, we need to hit them where it hurts...in their bottom line.

I hate to say it but I am actually advocating a forum boycott... I love GOG but they consistently demonstrate a lack of respect for one of their biggest supporters - this forum. We've valiantly tried to support this community, we've welcomed new-comers, we've given support on games, we've joked, gifted, been friends...and GOG ignores this unpaid support.

Anyway, as I've previously stated - I am personally not buying a single game, no matter how cheap, no matter what the promo is, until GOG does something about the trolls infecting this forum. Join me or not - it's just an internet forum that used to matter to me. Yeah, I'd like it to matter to GOG too but my hope is not a plan....

Hope is not a plan no matter how much you MAHAYO it :-(

Not even a Summer Insomnia sale? Well this week they should be unveiling there new thing to curb or stomp out alt accounts so we'll see......

Also 73 rep, was 90 like 3 days ago and for sure was 83 yesterday.

Nope, not even that - I basically am using this forum to gift people I know my extra Desura keys and to participate to gift Steam keys In the GOG SG group. That's it.

Listen, I've hosted GA's that have gifted close to a 1,000 games - yeah mostly not GOG games so if GOG has an issue with that then they should post that in their forum rules. But I've also made a very concerted effort to stop naked key drops that attract trolls/scammers and been a contributing member to many threads that aren't about GA's. This place used to feel like home...yeah :-(

It's actually kind of sad that forum members have to write scripts to fix known forum issues that GOG should fix themselves... but hey, free labor :-p

There's so many trues in the main post of this thread, and that makes me sad. Just yesterday, after I read all about the damage and abuse just one coward can make using multiple accounts for such a long time, made me think that this place is doomed. I love this place, it's the forum that I have spent the longest time. It used to be be very peaceful, until a very well known scammer shook the place for a long time, and since then we had many copycats trying to do the same. Now I think I don't like the place anymore, every day someone is scammed or is victim of some abusive user or users.

But what bothers me much more is the very people behind this good place, it's like they don't care at all of what happens in the forums. One person using multiple accounts from one place seems to be like in his paradise, he or she can do whatever they like because none, and I repeat, NONE of the people who can do something about it, does nothing. No accounts or IPs blocked, even with proofs of such abusive activities. The only thing we had at some point was a feature where we could check in our PMs the real REP and join date of the other member. Now we have not even that, ZERO safe mechanisms to protect the members in the forum.

To be honest, I don't like the place as I did in the past anymore. These problems have been already happening for too long. Everytime I check back the place, something bad already happened. That's the reason I don't visit this place as I used to do, and every day less. And probably, if this continues, the thought of not coming back grows stronger every day. And probably is what I will do at some point, because I can't stand how the forums have become. Probably I will be back just to buy a game and download an installer from time to time, and help with the GOG Gift Club if needed, but that's it. I'm almost done with the place. It was good, but not anymore.

Yeah...it was great but without ownership support it's become "just another Steam/Reddit/whatever forum". You'd expect better service from a cheap motel :-( Apparently the roaches are running the place... ~sigh~

I am thoroughly against what OP is saying and very much against gog staff coming in and moderating the forums.

You are trying to open the pandora's box of censorship. Once there is a little bit of censorship, it will turn into a big black hole of censorship similar to steam forums.

Why are you being bothered by petty numbers on an internet forum ?

Um, May 2015 - 25 rep, come back when you've been an active contributor that has been down repped 300+ points for trying to stop naked code drops. Come back when the silent abuse feels like you're being personally attacked - which is exactly what the rep abuse is - a personal attack by faceless trolls who are unhappy that you've stopped them picking up free games without ever even showing their faces here in the community. THEN and only then do you have the right to comment "new user", who hasn't even figured out how to change that tag :-p

Oh and I am not some faceless OP - my name is Momo1991, "faceless commenter" :-p

We seriously need a forum moderator.
I lost 8 reps from yesterday because a fellow named tort1234 thinks I am a scammer, leecher and torrent uploader and all because of a 2years old comment on pirate bay.
(you can read his post on scammer thread)

Is this what you get being active in forums?

Pimpmonkey got targated and now he has negative rep.

I am sure people demanding for moderator here will be targeted.

I think most of us and clearly GOG itself, forgets that we are just people... Personally, I've made friends from all over the world here on GOG regardless of color, race, creed etc... we're ALL gamers. But clearly we have a few bad apples that are bound and determined to disturb the peace. As members, down-repping these members is no longer effective when they can just create multiple account to abuse active, contributing members. If GOG won't do ANYTHING to stop this blatant abuse and actually will actively change forum names that encourages this behavior, I am personally continuing my boycott of GOG purchases. Clearly my numerous requests to support have had zero effect. Clearly the numerous posts by active members requesting help have gone unheeded...

Does a Blue have a comment? Not that I'll believe anything you say until I see action....and yeah, that means actual proof in the form of a thread that lists deleted accounts of alt-accounts and active moderation by our supposed "community managers" that discourages negative commentary and calls out neg-reppers who come into a GOG GA thread where every single post is down-repped and states that GOG has removed the offending user(s). Dunno but this seems simple enough to me....

I agree with everything you said, Momo. While I haven't been personally abused (at least to my knowledge), I've observed certain threads and behavior enough to notice that it is a serious issue for many (core) users. The fact that certain wakalos have started to spawn numerous alts over the last six months or so (if not longer), while GOG turns a blind eye to the whole scenario, has negatively effected my interest too to participate in discussions as much as I used to. The place is turning into a kiddie playground where everyone is always fighting, trolling and bullying each other. GOG really, really needs to step forward and put a stop to this - why they haven't introduced IP bans yet, is mind-boggling. If someone thinks it would be censorship - well, they can go back to their 4chans or whatever other wild west they prefer. Letting people freely abuse other people is worse than your so-called "censorship". As of know, it would only appear that GOG cares of nothing else but the maximum number of customers: I feel that they think that should they have to ban a user, that would only be one less potential customer for them.

Here here. Things have been heading this way for a long, long time, but I always held out hope that GOG would finally come through and do what needed to be done.

Now, with GOG pushing Galaxy hard, things have finally come to a head. Forum users now have basically zero protection against scammers exploting and leeching off of the generosity of the community; they also have zero protection against people taking over their accounts, too...and to add insult to injury, when someone actually did try to make an effort to raise the issue of moderation and forum scammers, the GOG staff decided it would be better to shoot the messenger instead. GOG has effectively hung a "SCAMMERS WELCOME!" sign on the front door of the forums.

I'll be honest. As much as I would love to say that I would boycott GOG by refusing to purchase anything from GOG going forward, I'll be more realistic and say that I definitely will reevaluate my purchasing habits with respect to GOG. I'll definitely be thinking twice about purchasing from, promoting, and supporting GOG until this gets settled.

I can't help but wonder if people, who've taken such positions in the face of all that's been happening here recently, are either scammers themselves, or stand to benefit from scammers on the forum.

GOG is at it's heart a corporation, that exists for one sole purpose: to make money. Everything benevolent and praise worthy that they do is a move to help grow their bottom line. That's all well and good when the direction a company pursues to grow its bottom line runs parallel to what their fan base/customer base wants. When those two directions diverge, however...

GOG is at it's heart a corporation that exists to make money. Until they prove otherwise, fixing the forums is an expense which they don't feel is necessary to their bottom line. Not when they have Galaxy, their new cash cow, to push.

The forums of late are why I was so opposed to GOG just counting on people to behave rather than moderating. I remember when the Fitocracy forums became a pool of shit, it was literally a matter of a couple weeks between everybody being pretty decent to it becoming a pit.

At least Mr. Gog doesn't let you add a reason to the rep change like they do over there. I saw folks put all sort of slanderous and disgusting things to go with the -1.

It doesn't take too many people pissing on the rug to make it a new custom.

I've stopped making giveaways for a while (only PM based if at all) and haven't bought much anymore either, especcially compared to the past. There were weeks that I didn't post at all and still lost a lot and for nearly every post I make, I lose a few points rep somewhere else. I think that I would have about 900 by now.
This board is no fun anymore, I give you that. The support requests I made long time ago have all been ignored of course, although I even created small logs including who was online at the moment of the worst down-rep campaigns and told them which of their logs they could check, but GoG doesn't give a damn.

I support your boycott.

Wow, these threads make me feel like there is some bloody all-out war ongoing in my neighborhood, I'm just somehow totally unaware of it and don't see it at all. Odd.

And I thought I am quite active in the forum, visiting it almost daily etc. Yet, I mostly just see birds chirping and bees having sex with flowers, nothing much more. Except occasionally some users complaining with caps lock on about some ongoing war and end of the world that I don't see for some reason.

Not claiming that there aren't such problems, somehow I am just evading them it seems. Or then I just don't care enough. Maybe it is because I don't participate in any giveaways, nor do I paranoidly check whether my rep points are going up or down. I just don't care enough.
