ANNOUNCEMENT:
Version 3.8.4 has been released with the following features:

* Added display of and filtering by "Price History" (i.e. permanent change in price)
Note: Available price history goes back only to late May 2014 (since when 11 games have changed their price).
* Changed the defaults for the Display checkboxes to have them all checked (mostly relevant for first-time visitors and people who regularly delete all their cookies)
* Changed the behaviour of the "Set Almost All" button to also uncheck all the "My Fields" Display checkboxes

Note: This information is limited to games that I myself own (currently about 90% of the GOG catalogue).
Note: Due to limits set by GOG, which if crossed result in one's IP being blocked for 12-24 hours, MaGog takes about three days to cycle through all my games. This leads to a potential 3-4-day delay from the actual file change to its appearance in MaGog's database, and by extension in MaGog's logs. Still, better late than never.
Note: Hopefully this new feature will end the era of silent and unnoticed updates, at least for 90% of the GOG catalogue.

* Added the option to select the sort order to apply to the downloadable files of a displayed game (GOG Order or Modification Date)

* Added sorting by "latest file change date"
* Redesigned the "downloadable files" filters to offer more search flexibility


Examples of searches now possible:
1) Games that have had at least one file change since 1/1/15 (sorted by descending order of latest file change date):

As for your suggestions:
1) What you ask for is for MaGog to maintain a history for each file in each game (when was a file added/removed), which given the number of games and files will quickly become unmanageable. I will record changes/additions/deletions in the "what did just update?" thread, but MaGog will not remember them. MaGog only stores the current state. The only time-related information I have is what GOG offers, which is file modification date/time (also covers file addition). Thus, when you search for file changes since a given date it also covers file additions (no way to differentiate the two because GOG does not offer file creation time, only file modification time). At the moment, I do not plan to remember files deleted (there are a lot of those, e.g. patches).

2) It's in the plans, I just need to figure out how to do it. Note that a lot of files (e.g. bonuses, patches, tarballs) do not carry proper language identification, so you will probably want to select "Eng + Ita + No Specific Language" when it comes to it.

3) At the moment, the simplest is to change the "Downloadable File Order" option (above the "Tutorial" button) from the default "GOG Order" to "Modification Date". This changes the order of files within a game so that they are sorted from newest to oldest. Thus, the first ones are the ones the changed most recently and are the ones you are probably interested in. Try it. If you find it lacking, I'll consider adding highlighting the files that match one's search criterion.

1) ah no ok, nevermind, I thought that you were just comparing files at each db update between new and old data.

2) perfect. Anyway, files without language spec are probably english here.
Ah, if you can, let us exclude unwanted systems too. (ex: mac)

However, could you please change the files' color to something less "alarming" than red? For example blue :P
Don't color dates, instead, unless you're going to use a different one.
