Emob78: The banning of things in Germany due to Nazi imagery. The irony is dripping from that like maple syrup.
Germans have to protect their heroes from gamers, I guess.

The_Blog: Ofcourse Games are art but no publisher would bring that to court just to bring a version of a game to germany.

Klumpen0815: Eventually it will happen just like it did happen with comics (see "Maus").
All it needs is at least one dev to do it.
Well I hope it happens sooner than later.

All we need is a Valiant Hearts WW2 to be acclaimed everywhere but unavailable in Germany.

The_Blog: It bans ONLY games basicly. Art and news are allowed to contain Nazi Symbolics :)

Esputi: well, I consider games to be a form of art. I can even consider WW2 shooters a form of art if movies like inglorious basterds gets away with it. But I was referring to the stance on banning things related to Nazim in general, not just swastikas. Germany is always the first, and most times the only, to throw down the ban-hammer
Oh Inglorious basterds still got censored - but not the movie only the cover of the film. So films are art and covers with pictures on it not. That is German logic at its best.

The problem with bringing the argument "games are art" to court is that it would be costly. And it would probably cost more than to simply censor the game or to not release the game on German market at all. They all know that the Germans will import such games so they get their money. If they really had to renounce on the GErman market things would be different because Germany makes much money and is an important market.

You hit the nail in the head. Excatly that is the problem. The publishers simply have no reason to do it. Why would they?

MarkoH01: You are so right. Today I thought about what would happen if the Nazis would have chosen a square as their sign and we wouldn't be allowed to use THAT anymore. It's pure nonsense in my eyes but unfortunately it is the law and arguing about sense or nonsense does not really help here in Germany as long as you cannot afford a lengthy lawsuit. But hey, we are allowed to see nude girls in TV without being 18 - that's a win :)
Or any man-made architecture, for that matter. Everything is straight lines and right angles. If you look hard enough you can see swastika shapes in just about anything. I suppose it's time we consider a ban on ceiling tiles and brick sidewalks.

And what about the pyramid? That symbol was used by the Pharaohs while they were busy enslaving the Jewish people, long before Hitler got around to playing God. So the pyramid is evil. Please take if off my dollar bill now.

Can't help you there but I will take all your dollars if you'd feel better afterwards :)

Sorry. I just converted them all to blood diamonds and had them shipped to an offshore account in an armed security truck guarded by ferocious kill-beasts and taser wielding battle-bots.

You really like your diamonds, do you? ;)

tinyE: Some versions of Bloodrayne 1 and 2 have swastikas and some don't. I'm not totally sure which ones are on GOG.
PC versions to my knowledge are censored i believe only the PS2 & Gamecube versions are uncensored. Please do correct me if i am wrong.

I was attempting a long-way joke to get back around to the Jews. They do own the diamond syndicate, after all. It was my personal inside jokey way of going full circle and coming back to the holocaust and the theme of this thread... ah, it was a little over-thought...

It wouldn't have mattered, anyway. Even if my joke was humorous and witty, 90% of people reading it would get their cheeks clinched and confuse my humor with Joseph Goebbel's Oscar award speech.

The_Blog: As we are probably aware GOG.com removed the Commandos games for the german customers.
It is 2018 and we still have no list of "forbidden in Germany" games.
I already have a workaround for the issue so I can buy games which are normally not listed in Germany (I cannot post which way for obvious reasons, gog would have to delete the post).
But I still would love to know which games are hidden, since "Dying Light" is on that list too. But not for any Nazi symbol, it is just a bit too violent in some animation detail. For example: When you head-stomp a zombie to death.
