Now I don't like to criticize a free gift, if it is given in good faith and truly is a gift.

But this one certainly has me questioning that, especially when so heavily promoted on GOG's main page.

We've had at least a couple of these now, and I am wondering why they can't be sweetened with a bit more substance, that would actually make it a gift for a large portion of GOG customers, rather than just the few this might actually appeal to, that are some kind of fan of the game. And even if I was a fan of the game or had some reasonable interest in it, why would I actually want this so called gift, that is basically just artwork, that I could have likely gotten elsewhere quite easily?

Now don't get me wrong, I love good artwork, and regardless of the game I can judge it on its own merit.

Actually, having grabbed the freebie and downloaded it and looked at some of the artwork, what I have seen so far isn't bad ... no text anywhere, and nicely done. Whether I'd ever use it anywhere or look at it again, is another thing though.

Clearly this is a big promotional push, and they don't think the three videos and screenshots on the game page are enough ... some of the screenshot pics which are full size, look great.

But hell, imagine if every game at GOG started doing this ...... This week we have 50 Goodie Packs to give away.

Where's the making of video or ebook or music track(s) or bonus DLC etc ... something unique even.

We got Goodie Packs on several occasions.
No one forces you to buy anything beyond that. If they did that for more games? I would be grateful. There are a few games I am not interested at all but have some nice goodies.

Sounds to me like you are missing my point, and I certainly never said anything about being forced to do anything.

In a nutshell, I am basically claiming it doesn't fit the criteria of a genuine gift, but hey take it or leave it.

P.S. You do realize that it is only artwork, and that just from the screenshots on the game page at GOG, you could right-click and save them, some of which are pretty good. On top of that you could visit the provider's website and likely find more to download. All free .... fancy that.

I'm pretty sure that you like I would not be happy if GOG's main page was full of such free gifts. It's got too much crap on it as is.

So I am calling FAKE FREE GIFT.

P.S.S. And I am not saying don't provide artwork for free, just don't have it promoted pride of place on GOG's main page as if it is some big hooha.
