Just go into your settings, subscriptions and uncheck the marketing box. This was a hot topic a long time ago, people are used to it now. I even keep the page open before claiming it, just to speed up the process of unchecking it lol.
.
Mmmmm....

I like you gog2002x but that data will have been sent regardless of how quick the tab gets unchecked.

Answers to questions regarding "manual transfers" were never given. (manual transfer, really... easter bunny isn't real)

So yes, Lexor is correct. The free games are not really free.

Thank you Lexor?

Many customers should look at the "SUBSCRIPTIONS" tab in their Personal Settings.

In your profile you can go to "Orders & Settings" then "Subscriptions",

They will likely have been opted-in to "Marketing communication through trusted partner's services"

If you read this at least un-check that box so Google, Facebook & TikTok don't get your data.

Have attached an image with the data tab highlighted in blue, see image link below

From here
Just for the record, after I grab a free game from GOG that changes my subscription settings, I immediately change them back, and I've never received any related marketing from trusted GOG partners.

Take that how you will.

So maybe it isn't an instant thing, perhaps email addresses for those who have subscribed get collected at the end of the day or week or month, and then sent off to partners. Makes more sense that it would be that way, to reduce system resources etc.

I haven't unchecked anything in like 3 years at least, and I'm also not getting any spam from outside GOG.

From what I remember reading in some FAQ explanation, this "trusted partners" thingy is widely misunderstood, but I won't find it now. But it didn't mean that GOG is sharing your e-mail with anyone.

Correct. They share a hashed version of your email address (with Google, Facebook and Tiktok). That means these partners won't learn your email address from GOG, but if they already have your email address because you use them, then they'll know you also use GOG, because they'll be able to match on the hash. So if - and only if - you have an account with any of those three, using the same email address as on GOG, could additional marketing happen. And that will then be in the context of using those sites, where GOG-originated advertising might show up because of it.

See the support article for details.

Wasn't there another thread over here to discuss the giveaways like this?
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/a_place_to_discuss_giveaways_epic_steam_ubisoft_and_all

I thought this thread was strictly to be an announcement list.

Thanks for bringing the source. Yes, that's the article after reading which I decided it's not worth the hassle to uncheck the box as it doesn't affect me in any way (though giveaways were much more common back then).
