sunshinecorp: You'd probably need to sync the two accounts again for GOG to know, though.
Don't know the details for that one. It would also be interesting to see how GOG would react to someone who sets their account to private after the syncing.

I did. My account is set to private all the time because I don't really want it to be public. I've redeemed some GOG Connect games then set it to private again. No problems so far.

Grargar: in the case that the game is removed from your Steam account, GOG reserves the right to remove from your GOG account, as well.
That's not good.. it seems better to get it directly on Gog.

Titanium: Connected game stays in your GOG account. It's just a key activation, not an umbilical cord.
Uh.. who's right?

Why it's not good? Why would you even need to remove the free game from your Steam account?

Sure, I wouldn't be expecting any problems so soon after its debut. But, let's assume that GOG connect doesn't end up a one-time thing. Then what, will be the question.

I.. I never used Steam.. aren't they allowed to remove games from accounts for whatever reason, unlike Gog?

No?
Considering that it became free on the bone. This is somewhat expected.

And thanks for the heads up.

Well I'll gladly let the games go if I have to make my profile public. I just won't.

Grargar: No?
Ok then! I'll try adding it. Thanks

But why, what could happen?

fishbaits: I hope this means there`s a sequel en route...
Not a sequel, but there's this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=op4G1--kb-g

And I guess the launch date being next week has something to do with this move.

Maybe something, maybe nothing. We're just theorizing what might happen if a GOG-connected game is removed from a private Steam account (for whatever reason). Do you keep the game after all, or will GOG remove it if you decide to go for a new round of GOG connect games?

Technically, yes. But retailers tend to avoid bad publicity, so while they could simply cancel your license to a game (because that's all you actually buy on steam or on gog), they tend to not do that without a good reason,... or at least as much as they care about that based on their market share.

GOG, unlike steam, stacks the deck against itself, because you can download the game and then keep it in that state for as long as you like, since there is nothing preventing you from installing and plying. As such, taking your license away seems pretty pointless in the long run.
Thank you for letting us know. +1

I'm confused.. so, can games be removed from Steam for whatever reason or not? O_o

Short answer: they can, but probably won't.

Long answer: read my post above.
