Which games are keeping you company this weekend?

Let's address the White Wolf in the room first, shall we? The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Game of the Year Edition. is very much out and it's the triumphant celebration of a pretty awesome game. It also marks the conclusion of Geralt's long-running saga, so it's time to ask yourselves: what was the most Witcher moment that Witchered you the most across all Witchers? Was it a dialogue? An epic fight? A secret place? As long as it was cool for you, we want to hear it!

Surely you've got some gaming planned for this weekend, too. Go on, share your Weekend Playlist with us. It can include single-player games, multiplayer games, console exclusives, anything - we are not judging. In fact, we are sharing too!

Looking for some additional inspiration? The GOG.com releases of the week might help:

- You can clear up your schedule for the next couple of months and kiss your family goodbye before you dive into the The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Game of the Year Edition.
- You can leave behind anyone that slows you down and ride your locomotive of apocalypse survivors towards The Final Station.
- You can score some SUPREME! new loot and arenas in the action-packed DLC for FORCED SHOWDOWN.
- You can fight for your people all through the night in the turn-based beauty Tahira: Echoes of the Astral Empire.
- You can bring mythical beasts to their knees and restore balance in the ancient lands of Titan Quest: Anniversary Edition.
- You can carry your frog-like companion around and zap some unfriendly creatures in Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee.

So, School of GOG, what are you playing this weekend?
I've been playing Full Throttle and Breath of Fire lately, so probably more of those, plus getting back to some Privateer and Freedom Force, depending on how much time I have.

Crewdroog: here is my playlist.

Emob78: Such an incredibly odd person.

I don't know. Witcher 3, maybe some Silent Hunter 3. Still on the hunt for those juicy Atlantic convoys. Then later I'll wrap up my weekend with some Spiderman 3, because everything good comes in 3s. So Hollywood keeps fecking telling me.
Thanks!

To answer the question: I will be playing ESO :) khajiit for life!

IAmSinistar: Where's this thread for this weekend? GOG, do you not care about the minutiae of my life? Are you...are you breaking up with me? ;_;

Though in honesty, my answer is the same as last weekend - Tahira and Deadbolt. These games have got some serious lasting play value and addictiveness. Also, they both kick my buttocks pretty hard. :)
Yeah, weird... it seems they ditched the idea this weekend. Maybe the comment someone made earlier in the week about a decline in responses on these threads over time caused them to abandon the idea altogether, or to leave it go for a week to see if anyone missed it or something. ;)

Not a big deal either way, it's just a bit of trivial forum fun of sorts I guess. Everyone who likes the idea probably will just keep this particular thread from last week rolling instead. :)

Having said that... Not sure that I'll be doing much actual gaming this weekend. Some forum chatter, yes, but $lifestuff on my mind I need to take care of so can't get sucked into a game vortex. I installed the Star Trek 25th Anniversary game as it looks like it might be fun and has high ratings despite the age. Did a test run of it and almost immediately got completely lost. I love old 90s games but as time goes on if you don't play enough of them you sometimes forget that old games from the 90s or older often had very non-intuitive user interfaces compared to modern games and you are almost guaranteed to be completely lost unless you spend an hour reading the manual before playing many games from back then. hehehe

Needless to say, I decided to take a 2016 approach to playing the game by randomly clicking on things trying to figure it out and in less than 2 minutes I got completely destroyed by the Romulans. LOL Yeah - definitely need to read the manual for this game for sure. I have 2016 LazyGamer Syndrome at the moment though so I think I'll put Star Trek off for another day in the future when I have more patience to read stuff. :)

Not sure if I'll be doing any other gaming, nothing committal anyway.

Cinn314: Well GOG went and did it to me again and put another game on my wishlist on sale. So 80 days will be played this weekend (already on fourth run) and Overwatch. I also still have the Banner Saga to start,
Thanks for keepin this dream of a thread alive! :P
hue!
I like this thread, it deserves to be kept alive :)
Ok, I lied above. There, I said it! I didn't plan on doing any gaming this weekend, but I played Blackwell Epiphany for hours... so I guess I am gaming after all.

Oh boy, I hope that's not the case because I already feel bad about making that post. :P

Anyway, this weekend I've been playing Metro Last Light -- very good game but I didn't like the fact that it contains too many scripted events and it clearly suffers from consolitis (awful FOV, awful inventory, QTEs). Having played Metro 2033 before, I think I generally liked the first one better (maybe because I enjoyed the atmosphere the best), even though Last Light made shooting a little better plus stealth is pretty good. In any case, LL is a good game and I do recommend it, especially if you have played Metro 2033, since the story continues in a great way.

The Metro games got me all pumped up, but I can't get a high enough frame rate to my liking at my native panel resolution (2560x1600) so I haven't dug into it seriously, just some trial runs and beta testing. I may do some more hardcore option tweaking in the future and possibly roll it back to 1920x1200 though if I can get decent enough FPS, otherwise put it in the pile to hold off for a future GPU. Both games look amazing however your mention of QTEs is disconcerting to me if true as I f'ing hate QTEs. Still, I'd probably play it anyway as it just looks too amazing.

Don't be afraid; I hate them too but in LL they aren't everywhere (maybe less than 10 throughout the game) and they all fall into the "press Enter repeatedly to open the grate" & "press Enter repeatedly to get away from monsters jaws". They don't need any precision or reflexes at all -- they just detract from the atmosphere in my opinion.

Ah, ok that's not too bad then. I just hate the ones where you have to press a specific key or combo of keys with exact timing with or without on-screen help prompts. They just seem stupid and forced to me and like a game is trying to treat me like a robot. It completely ruins my immersion. Tomb Raider 2013 had a number of QTEs like this and some of them made me very angry even though I loved the game. The part where you're sliding down the side of a mountain in a stream falling out of control and have to carefully adjust left or right to avoid being impaled which is probably about 2/3rds through the game for example - that drove me nuts. Try it - fail, try it again - fail, repeatedly go through this annoying process of tedious immersion breaking BS over and over again until you magically get it just right and get back to the fun game or get bored and angry and exit and go play something else. That's what I ended up doing. Enjoyed the whole game except for the QTEs, and whenever I hit a QTE roadblock that was frustrating I stopped playing it for hours/days/months. Still haven't finished that game due to that crap, don't have the patience.

Wouldn't be so bad if such games had an option to bypass the boring QTE after 1-3 attempts so that the game could be fun for everyone else that is playing for immersion rather than an arcade robot.

I'd prefer an option to disable them entirely, like CDPR did in Witcher 2. Well, in W2 there were some QTEs even after disabling in the options, albeit very easy ones.

I don't think I played Witcher 2 long enough to encounter any QTEs. I gave it a trial run and enjoyed it but wanted to play the series in-order. Then I bought Witcher 3 and played it all the way through, then started Witcher 1 and only got to near the end of the first town outside of Kaer Morhen. LOL So much for "in-order" eh? :)
