Weakest of the Oddworld series
Munch's Oddysee was the main reason for me to get an X-Box back in the day. The artstyle and worldbuilding is particularly creative and fun in all Oddworld games and Munch's Oddysee is no exception. Munch's Oddysee takes place on Oddworld, an alien planet inhabited by different 'intelligent' species, like the spiritual Mudokons, the capitalistic & greedy Glukkons, the trigger happy Sligs, Scrabs, Paramites, Gabbits,... the creators built up a whole breathing ecosystem. In this game you control both Abe and Munch, two different native species who try to escape the industrial landscape of Oddworld. Munch is the last of it's kind, a Gabbit. the main goal is to obtain the last can of Gabbiar (Gabbit Eggs) that is set to be auctioned. there are a lot of interesting features in this game, like for example, the player can earn good Quarma by rescuing his fellows or bad Quarma by killing them. this will lead to multiple endings in the game. Abe can possess various enemies with his mind, Munch on the other hand can possess various machines. the main difference between this game and the first two are the graphics. unfortunately the transition from 2d to 3d didn't go all that well. navigating can be frustrating at times (mostly because of the camera) but it's nothing too damaging for the whole game experience. all the other elements make up for this flaw. I can't say much about this port, but recent steam reviewers point out, that the new port seems to work fine. So expect a fun, creative, lenghty 3d plattformer that is odd most of the time and will make you love the main characters. even if it's the weakest of the whole franchise, it's a very solid game that will entertain you.
