SirMrFailRomp: Well I wish I shared your optimism. I think it's a good idea to keep writing to them just in case this isn't what they have in mind.
I received a reply. Typical thank you for the feedback PR. That is all.

Also i love your new name.

In all likely hood they do.

Much as I have no intention of defending Steam, if they made exclusivity deals we'd know about it.

no, they do not. it is actually company policy. many sources on this, such as:

'Valve’s Anna Sweet told us. “Whenever we talk to third-party partners, we encourage them to put their games in as many places as possible, including not on our platforms," she said. "Because we think that customers are everywhere, and they want to put their games wherever customers are. That would go against our whole philosophy [...]'

That's steamos and doesn't contradict games being tied to steam.
I'll support this, never knew the game had an hd remaster. I'll be glad to tell them to put it here, more good games the better :)

they had the statement all over the place. there is many tings to dislike steam for, but this is not one of them. there has never been any exclusivity deals ith steam and the same message is in the dev portals. if you think there are any, it is up to you to provide the evidence for it
I haven't read everything so maybe I missed something, but personally I'd just assume the worst: GungHo wasn't happy with the income they were getting from GOG, removed Grandia 2 Anniversary from GOG as a result, and we won't be getting anything else from them. *crawls in skin*

But why ? If you remove it from purchase you'll get 0 income. But still why they bothered enough to do the whole removal process ? They could have just let it be and forget it existed.

I'm pretty sure it's not another Recettear situation ; But well, it can take months before it happens.

having a game here still incur cost. while there may not be much coding, there is still support, possible patching / bug fixing (which may be due to platform specifics), maintaining separate income streams, maintaining relations with the store and so on. if the game sells for less than the running cost, then it makes no sense continue having the game there.
Never forget!
Not that it is supposed to serve as consolation but at least switch owners are able to get a physical via LRG now.

It's something, i guess.

Man, I wish something like that was here on GOG for Grandia 1+2.
