Just purchased and have been playing Lands of Lore Guardians of Destiny and the game is crashing just after I enter the Huline Village cantina as Baccatta is speaking. How can this be fixed it just logs off to the desk top. Spent hours on game play. when I reload the game message says game did not shut down properly. What can I do?
More info is needed like what Windows/Mac OS X version etc.

Check the Lands of Lore subforum. Is this the problem you are having?

Dell PC with Windows 7 Home Premium, Pentium (R) Dual Core CPU, 2.20 GHz, 64 bit with 240 GB free. Ran game for about 8 hours with no problems. Followed suggestion found on line about setting glide to be both true; reloaded game which appeared as a small window and reloaded cantina scene and it still crashed. I can't read the message on the DOS box because it flashes off almost immediately. also tried different setuo for nglide but that didn;t work either, I saved game before entering cantina also restarted from an earlier saved game from the hive caves and still crashes. I then tried not going into the cantina and proceeded back to the jungle to explore and go to monastery but Dawn is not there - wondering if Dawn does nit appear if I don't go to cantina. any help would be appreciated.
set your resolution settings to low - before going to talk to baccatta
Tried changing the res and it still crashes for me

Assuming you're using the standard GOG LOL2 setup, the best way is to edit dosboxLOL2_single.conf in the Lands of Lore 2 folder (use notepad or something similar)
At the bottom of the file you'll see:

lolg.exe -CD ..
exit
Replace it with:

#For normal gameplay
#lolg.exe -CD ..

#Cantina Crash, Remove '#' from following line and add '#' it to the preceding line. Switch back after bypassing bug
lolg.exe -LOWMEM -CD ..

exit
Now enter the Canitna, get the cutscene, exit and save the game.
Edit back the dosboxLOL2_single.conf so that the "#" are switched for the executable line

#For normal gameplay
lolg.exe -CD ..

#Cantina Crash, Remove '#' from following line and add '#' it to the preceding line. Switch back after bypassing bug
#lolg.exe -LOWMEM -CD ..
Important! After you start the game back up, make sure you go into your in-game video settings and turn back Texture Resolution to "High" and Texture Cache to "Large" otherwise gameplay will suffer!

*Really wish GOG would just include the 3 missing CD files necessary for the Windows version to run. Seems to work perfectly in Windows 10 after setting it to "Win98 compatibility mode"....

**You may also want to look over my old post https://www.gog.com/forum/lands_of_lore_series/lands_of_lore_2_glide_and_general_configuration_guide_plus_troubleshooting . I'd ignore the Update about DOSBox ECE and just stick with the first posts info. The DOSBox ECE information is very much out of date and the updates to the project means that it likely won't work as I had it configured at that time. If you're wanting to try the superior (to my ears) MIDI music, the soundfont I'd currently recommend is Fatboy https://fatboy.site/ Of course, trying different Soundfonts to find one that you prefer is always good!
